GOP Insanity Containment 2: This is the Place. This is the Time, Cowboy.

I like Disney, especially with little kids. We went a few years ago with our daughter, and will probably go again in a few years when our 1 year old is old enough to enjoy it. That will probably be our last trip there though. Yea it’s ridiculously expensive and exhausting, but I enjoy it.

Oddly enough, I thought I’d hate Disneyland when we went a few years ago but holy shit, I had a huge grin on my face from the first ride until we left 4 days later.

It was also less expensive than I had planned.

We had an absolutely amazing time and are looking forward to going back.

Tricks and tips that worked for us: we stayed in a hotel that had breakfast. We packed in lunch and only ate dinner in the park.

I used touring plans . com to help plan each day. Basically you put in the stuff you want to do and it optimizes it to keep the amount of walking you do as efficient as possible, and it updates and reconfigures things throughout the day based on line length to keep things optimized. Highly recommended and worth the price.

Apparently it does work that way for a lot of people. For me it’s approximately zero fun, but my kids love it, so I go. I like that they’re having fun, but it’s not really the same as me having fun myself.

This isn’t a community enforced fine, they are making it illegal for women to receive an abortion in the state of Oklahoma.

You gotta hand one thing to Republicans - they believe their own bullshit. They get into office and they immediately start pushing the crazy and don’t let up.

Meanwhile what do we get in democratic super majority states like California? Higher taxes, homeless crises, bullet trains to nowhere, unsustainable gamable pensions.

I think Newsome has done a decent enough job. But if the dems were true-believers like Rs in states they have a super-majority - California would have free college, universal healthcare, bullet trains all over the state a long time ago, affordable housing everywhere, etc.

Cmon now, you cant have this both ways

Sure I can. We should have had bullet trains a long time ago. Not one that will cost $1T and probably not join SF and LA in my lifetime.

I’m not complaining about the bullet train, I’m complaining about the cost and speed of getting the thing running and the fact that it will run from Bakersfield to Modesto for the foreseeable future.

Also this only happened because of federal funds. California had nothing to do with it. The world’s fifth-largest economy can’t be expected to shell out that kind of capital.

It wasn’t that long ago that Arnold was the governor. The problem is that a lot of the dems are like Pelosi and Feinstein and not like AOC.

This is very true. The “liberal” Democrat party apparatus in California is the same group of people that are mega NIMBY types in SF, for example.

@suzzer99 is right that it would be nice to have powerful true believer Dems, but that kind of ignores one of the root problems in American politics - money runs politics, so true believer big government types can’t win. True believer culture war types get the explicit or tacit approval of the rich, because hey they’re not going to bear the brunt of it. In fact, the more type everyone is talking about CRT, and not about offshore tax havens, the better.

This fucking guy.

My little brother won a trip for four to Disney world when he was four years old at a contest at Sears. They ended up sending all six of my family. We got into the park with only other contest winners, was quite the time as a six year old.

Republicans all move in the same direction because they are ideologically uniform. They are all conservatives. Democrats can’t do the same because they are a center-left coalition, not an ideological party. There’s no single issue that ties the entire party together other than being a Republican. AOC is not a Republican. Manchin is not a Republican. But they are different types of not-Republicans who would never be in the same party if we had a multi-party system.
