GOP Insanity Containment 2: This is the Place. This is the Time, Cowboy.

Not even news really. The only way they can change the borders is if both states and Congress agree so they can have their little county level votes until hell freezes over and it’s not going to change anything.

Huh. Wonder if this guy thinks the same way about our southern border with Mexico:

McCaw, who lives in rural Cook County, said his home state has changed drastically over his lifetime and that it has become unrecognizable to residents outside the urban centers.

“Borders are imaginary lines to make people’s lives easier,” he said. “Why not match people to government and policies that they want and make their lives better?”

Wait, what? That’s a completely crazy meaning of “down to 8 votes” lmao. I wasn’t even able to get that from lol’s post

Thanks for explaining and pasting, though

My cousins live in this school district, and their kids go to school there. The area is pretty blue/democratic. Except for the Armenians that live there, who are very conservative. I guess they kept their kids out of school on Friday in protest.

My cousin said his younger daughter (3rd grade) only had about 1/3rd of the students in her class on Friday, so I guess the population is bigger than I thought.

The last couple of days I’ve kept thinking about what it means to make fun of someone’s appearance, and the idea that it depends on creating groups that are In or Out. Saw this quote today and it basically sums it up: “Every judgement is a confession.” … Saying “I think you look funny” is really saying, “this is what I think ‘normal’ is.”

This is where I live. If I had heard about this meeting and the protests/counter-protests I would have gone. I became aware that something was happening when I took my dog for her evening walk and heard/saw the police and news helicopters.

Glendale has a very racist history. It was a sundown town and German-American Bund rallies were held in a park in the north of the city. It is, I believe, the only sundown town to have officially apologized.

I really wish the Armenian angle was not part of this, there is more than enough tension between Armenians and non-Armenians as it is. My son is finishing 8th grade (today, in fact) and on the first day of pride month a ton of kids stayed out of school. Many of these kids are being taught to be anti-Semitic as well. When the BLM protests happened in Glendale I was so heartened to see many Armenians join, so I know for sure the Armenian community is not united in hate, in case that doesn’t go without saying.

I’ll close by saying fuck this alt-right wannabe Nazi, who failed in his bid for the school board and is now running for city council: https://www.instagram.com/henry4glendale/?hl=en
