It reminds me a lot of Lance Armstrong. There was always tons of evidence that Lance was a scumbag (even aside from the PEDs) but he maintained a pristine rep for a long time.
One reason would be if they pay you enough. I’m sure there is some theoretical amount that would allow you to set aside your principles on this one.

Well, we’ll see how long that lasts. I don’t see too many companies dying on this hill. They’ll just default to whatever achieves their goals better. My guess is for some jobs, posting a narrow range is better and for others a wider one is more effective.
