After digging a little further, it seems there is no fee to apply for asylum, but submitting a Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization costs at least $410.
Meaning theyâre waiting for the government to review their applications and decide if they are credible. Meanwhile, theyâre allowed to stay in the US while they wait.
