I think people were saying the same thing about Winged Foot right? I think every course favors driver/wedge if you can hit it far enough, despite all the crap you hear from old time golf analysts about hitting fairways it sure seems like being closer to the hole > being further from it when it comes to approaches
Not if they’re close enough to the tee.
This is certainly true, and always has been. That said, some courses less than others. Augusta will always make changes to try to keep the holes playing as intended to the extent they can but yeah the shorter the approach shot the better unless you’re blocked out or the rough is punitive enough. Super long and straight though, you can’t beat that, nor should you.
I hate Bryson but this course is made for him, especially when it is soft. He’s going to achieve 10+ strokes gained off the tee, which is equivalent to making like 15 30+ footers over the course of a week.
Hoping he ships and it finally motivates the governing bodies to do something about the golf ball.

Listening to No Laying Up this week… They had on Marc Leishman’s caddy who had some awesome nuggets.
Apparently there’s a tree on the left side of 13 that is probably going to fall over if left to its own devices. They basically have a cable system that holds it back further in the treeline for practice rounds, then on Thursday they loosen the cable and it sticks out like 5 yards further into the lane of play than any of the other trees.

I don’t know shit about Golf but Draftkings offered me $15 back if I enter the milly maker and Bryson makes the cut, so it seems like a good enough rakeback deal to take a swing (see what i did there).

I did a Masters pool where you could put as many $1 you wanted on whichever player, and you either tied or won if that player won.
I had Jason Day, Adam Scott and Luke Donald all to myself. I shared Tiger with 4 other bettors - as a defensive pick.
Going into the last few holes - all 4 of those were live. But fucking Charl Schwartzel, the only one I hadn’t bet on, birdied the last 4 holes and won.
Even though $200 is the most I could have won and I lost $40, I’m still pissed. Fucking Charl. Most annoying gambling loss of my life.

Masters app has more coverage than normal this year. You can literally watch every shot from every player if you are so inclined.
