GOAT Pie Tourney

Ok nut low commonly eaten pie.

It’s the black licorice of candy. Sure it’s technically candy but nobody on earth chooses it over nearly every other kind of candy. That’s pumpkin pie.

Since we’re on the subject of Thanksgiving foods that exist almost entirely due to tradition and nostalgia, kind of, did anyone else have Green Stuff (it goes by many names)? Always had it as a kid at Thanksgiving, am going to make it this year for the first time in quite a while - I think I did it once before. Lime jello, pineapple, marshmallows. My mother’s version had cottage cheese, I’m going to use cream cheese.

Clearly everyone voting for pumpkin is trolling.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I’ll go back and adjust the bracket accordingly. Shoofly pie was robbed and is now in the finals.

Nothing is worse than tomato aspic which my family makes every thanksgiving.

there are like a billion variations of “jello with fruit and some combination of marshmallow/coolwhip/white stuff” often with nuts sprinkled in, though I don’t think I’ve seen one that … dense.

How exactly are you supposed to eat that?

is this basically vegetable soup, but jello’d?

Is that…savory?

That does seem like the only appropriate course of action.

My families jello tradition:

Yes it’s tomato jello with meat and veggies. It’s vomitous.

Yeah some of the recipes I see have nuts, which does not compute.

It’s funny how my mother was so focused on not being “shanty Irish” and then she’d serve us Green Stuff.

You shouldn’t.

Fancy!

It is very time consuming to make.

This could be it’s own thread.
Shit Food At Thanksgiving - and Possible Replacements.

I’m not from the US but lived here for 10 yrs now. It took a couple of years but now my rellies here have accepted that roast potatoes are better than mash (I might get blasted for that - but come at me haters!).
My father-in-law ALWAYS makes these soggy overcooked yellow beans. wtf! Is that as compulsory as mash?!

Yeah, why not, I’m bored

Not if you have turkey gravy, or garlic mashed potatoes, or blue cheese mashed potatoes (last two if you fry a turkey and have no drippings for gravy).

That’s a lotta work to try and get mash closer to roasties. You know you can just add them things to roasties too…

PS: Homemade onion gravy GOAT.
