You have it backwards. The reason I feel the way I do is because I view them as fellow humans rather than peasants that are beneath me.

I also put items back where I got them from if I get half way across the store and decide I no longer want it. I put the shopping carts back in the allotted spots when I am done using them. When I’m at the movies I pick up my own trash even though they have people that clean up afterwards.

The guy is saying if someone stops you just say good luck making the decision on whether you are taking food away from starving people or if you are letting me steal from the company you work for.

This would of been the highlight of your year?

This is a good joke at the expense of Jeff Bezos?

It’s not clever or really that funny.

Yeah, as long as they didn’t try to unionize.

I’m gonna choose door #2, Monty.

If you’re going to get mad about union busting you’re going to be mad at every corporation in the US over the last 30 years. Not saying you’re wrong, just pointing out that using it as a metric leaves literally nobody standing.

My criticism of old Whole Foods is that the reason they treated their employees pretty well is that upper middle class to upper class people don’t like even looking at the truly downtrodden and like the illusion that nobody is being oppressed to keep their (ok in the last decade or so I’m definitely in this group… our) lavish lifestyles going. It’s the candy coating on the machine that rolls right over 60% of the population to allow the top 10% to live better than anyone ever dreamed of in human history.

I can tell you that Kroger employees have always depressed me and in Louisville at least they usually were unionized. Not all unions are created equal lol.

Honestly when it comes to union vs no union I have extremely mixed feelings. I’m very aware of how bad things got when Unions controlled the economy, and have personally experienced bloated and extremely priveleged union members absolutely destroying the livelihoods of literally thousands of less priveleged workers through striking at a port. I’m talking about longshoremen at the port of Long Beach absolutely annihilating the west coast trucking market despite already making ~140k a year with god tier benefits in 2014.

I also know all the pro union arguments and am sensitive to them… I just feel like the best way to get workers better rights is to give them, individually, more leverage through a UBI that allows them to just walk away if need be. Workers who can afford to just quit get treated massively massively better IME.

Their anti-union stance is just one of the many reasons I dislike WF. I’ve gone over them a few times back on 2+2 and I’m not going to repeat myself here. If you’re curious, look around. The information is out there. Maybe ask some old school peeps around Austin, if you can still find any. They are not the company they present themselves as, or people want to believe they are. That’s not to say they are uniquely evil, but they are uniquely dishonest.

I made it 6 seconds. I just can’t. I’m suddenly super grateful that the Christianity I grew up with was extremely traditional… which means at least it was sort of authentic and not trying to parrot pop culture.

Just chiming in to say I catch up on this thread 500+ posts at a time,

and you’re all doing FANTASTIC work.

So much great content for me, I might even try to catch up on this thread more frequently.

In this thread we say Merry Christmas motherfuckers, or you can talk to my AR.

Zikzak why does this site not expand links sometimes?

They all look inbred.

Oh good

Shocking, but she seems to be something of a grifter.

Huh

This… this is super true generally. My experience of Unions is that the people who need them the most don’t have them. Retail workers and restaurant employees need unions very badly. The way they schedule alone is more than adequate grounds for one.

It relies on Open Graph tags to get the content, but not all sites have them.

At least one of those four kids is going to end up on the wrong end of one of those guns.

Seems really weird that Huff Post of all sites wouldn’t have it.
