I’ve listened to him a bit and he is a gushing fire hose of awful takes. He may have a certain kind of ‘kid who tells teacher everything’ integrity brought about by being bullied or something, but in this instance he became the bully by emailing some completely random twitter user’s boss about being called a bedbug, and to top it off, he wrote one of the most egregiously pretextual op-eds ever, conflating the incredibly serious issue of the dehumanization of people by means of language and his thoroughgoingly unrelated travail of being insulted on the internet and then having a breakdown over it. He probably canceled because he realized he was bound to look like a total fool in public again and decided to spare himself.

Well there’s also that half of his career is literally telling young people how pernicious safe spaces are, yet he gets to write op-eds, go on Morning Joe, but he can’t deal with confrontation? Don’t get me wrong, fine, he doesn’t do well with confrontation, then the adjustment is: be more self-reflective, don’t abuse your position as a prominent pundit to attack people who do not have a platform to fight back against you, and lord, think of some better takes on stuff.

I was working some d3 NCAA basketball games and we had to put their big ass stickers down on the floor. Turns out their stickers were slippery and the players were falling… so they had us use sandpaper on them. Brilliant.

That’s me nowadays.
Bret Stephens DEFINITELY asks to talk to the manager. A lot. Also 100% has unironically dropped “do you know who I am” to service workers.
