Also, as a restaurant you have to pay more to the platforms to have your place even displayed, à la SEO. Otherwise you get no orders. It’s become a protection racket.
The entire restaurant industry is just completely broken.

Surprised the airlines haven’t created a position for this. Have enough people doing apparently nothing most of the time.
Cars and car parts are shit. For many years cars got better and better but now they’re perfecting how to make things that don’t long outlive warranties, many things are part of assemblies so what was a small cheap part is now thousands of dollars, computers that can only be reset/programmed at the dealership, terrible aftermarket products.
This all sounds like the things people always say, but it’s not just that …it’s gotten very bad.

I’m sure this got hammered in the past in the social media thread, but: Reddit has become as enshittified as FB and IG since it went public. Every time I log in I almost always scroll past ten posts (not counting the ads) before I see one from a sub to which I am actually subscribed. It never fails. I always spend the first couple of minutes each session telling their algorithm to show me “fewer posts like this.” Doesn’t matter. Ten new trash threads are served up next login. The next community I find interesting enough to join from that lot will be the first.
There’s also some bug affecting thousands of users now who, like me, had the temerity to change the email addresses attached to their accounts. Their dogshit system is force-switching accounts back to the original emails, then locking people out due to “unusual activity.” I have changed my password twice a day, every day, since last Wednesday when I made the email switch.
r/help is flooded with users experiencing this. The response is pretty much universally

And this after their earnings call a couple weeks back where they revealed that AI will take on more of the modding load moving forward. Surely that can’t miss.

lol, I just got perma banned from reddit for my second joke that their AI bot took as a threat of violence.
Also, right now, if you type something into Youtube search, you get hit with 95% AI slop. I was trying to find some old content and holy shit…

My 99 4runner runs as strong as it did the day I bought it and doesn’t report my driving habits to the manufacturer so they can sell the data to my insurance company. It’s in great shape, low miles, no accidents, one owner and a highly sought after extremely rare configuration. I would consider $20k a good offer, but no way in hell I sell it for any reasonable offer. Comps with slightly higher mileage and automatics are advertised for $19.5k right now. Drilling these facts into my kids so they don’t give it away for peanuts when they inherit it.
ETA-replaced the valve cover gaskets last year and had to pull the intake off to do it. Intake gasket was $152. I couldn’t believe it.
Reddit keeps trying to force me to the app and won’t show much more than the OP if I’m not in incognito mode. Fuck that! I will never download the app because of that.

The kindle app wouldn’t let me download my new book. After an hour of fiddling around I finally got it to work. Now I don’t feel like reading. Thanks, Bezos.
Something else better now than 10 years ago: podcasts.
I bought a Kindle a couple of months ago that I use to read non-DRAM EPUB books that I find a free site.
I download the books to my laptop, and then I use the “send to Kindle” page, and shortly thereafter the books show up on my Kindle and on the rest of my devices with the Kindle app.
I have no complaints with downloading to or reading with the Kindle app.
