The proliferation of those fucking meta glasses and cameras everywhere in general. Flock cameras, hidden cameras that people set up in Airbnbs, etc.
I think people having the ability to overtly record anything with their phone has benefits (e.g. filming cops doing crimes), but we’ve gone way past that, imo.
Had a 98 limited 4runner that was an absolute monster that I got rid of at around 200k miles in 2012 or so. I’ve regretted that many times. Hearing they sell for 20k isn’t that surprising mine never broke at all. I have a 2018 outback and its pretty reliable but the number of minor repairs isn’t comparable.

I was just at Lidl this afternoon. Now, you don’t have to use an app to shop there (as opposed to Kroger where there is a real benefit to using it), but there can be some deals/coupons/rewards, so whatever. Pulled up the app before I went to the checkout and it said they are using another app now. So I downloaded that. But of course since it’s a new app, I wasn’t logged in. So I did that. But the new app has a different password strength requirement, so I had to change mine. Then I had to click the link they sent me in an e-mail.
I think I got a few rewards points at checkout.
Also, Kroger’s app is slow as shit.
The Paramount+ app on TV is the worst ever. It highlights a button and often takes THREE clicks to take. It also deletes your caption preference every time you close it. And it’s hard to tell when the ‘play’ area is selected. I blame the Ellisons.
You should expect to have issues at some point.
I have books from a mix of sources including borrowed items from the library. I have a Kindle Paperwhite. I use the app on tablets, PCs and my phone. It all usually works ok. But sometimes it doesn’t and it’s a pain.
I have considered trying something else. Calibre for instance could remove DRM from my Amazon books and I’ve used it before. So far it’s seemed like more effort than it’s worth. But they keep pushing me.
Today was particularly annoying, starting with finding the Kindle version on my laptop was no longer supported and wouldn’t work. It wasn’t the first time.
There are third party apps you can still use thank God. You have to pay for the api tokens monthly, but it’s the only way I can survive. RedditSync is great.
Everything needing apps to get the decent prices and getting fleeced if you don’t have the app.
Avocados at the Jewel Osco are always $0.69 with the app coupon and $1.99 without.
Also looking at you Fast Food places. Sometimes I just want to order a Crunchwrap Supreme without opening the Google Play store

That’s one thing I really like about Trader Joe’s. No app, no coupons, no two tiered pricing nonsense.
The Kindle app opens my book and saves where I leave off, that’s basically all I need it to do been using on my phone forever.
I also like the fact that any of the books I download to Kindle automatically sync across my other devices, even if they’re not Amazon books. The Kobo ClaraB&W is more expensive than basic Kindle, and more annoyingly, it does not sync books across multiple devices unless the book is purchased from the Kobo store.
I had been reading all of my EPUB books on an Android tablet with Google Books, but I just bought the basic Kindle because I wanted something a little lighter weight and with more memory, since my tablet’s memory was pretty much bloated with Android apps as well as system apps.
One thing that has become worse with proliferation of apps is the television watching experience: need several apps to watch what used to take just cable/satellite. But the bigger issue is fast forward/rewind has become much worse than it used to be somehow.
I bought an airhead the other day and it was about 30% smaller than it used to be
