The bad news is that AI can never possess awareness. The good news is, you neither.

Eta, i may have reversed those, but the good news is it doesnt matter

it has always annoyed me when dudes are bragging about being situationally aware like they’re always on the lookout for threats and sizing up everyone they see in case they need to fight them, like yeah we’ve all seen The Bourne Identity scene where he talks about knowing where to find a gun in the pickup truck in the parking lot, you’re not Jason Bourne bro, you don’t need to keep your head on a swivel in case there is a terrorist attack at the mall food court.

My Dad just told me everyone attending a parade should be “heavily armed”.

Yeah like the chiefs Super Bowl parade, that went well

everyone packing just in case they need to stop a mass shooting, mission accomplished!

i don’t know that i’m ’situationally aware’, but i definitely pay attention to body language. especially if something feels off.

Making no comment on yourself. But for me, my gut instinct for when something feels off is basically just racism.

I know when someone’s walking behind me at night, or shadowing me across the street or something. And I make sure they know I know they’re there.

I also seem to be aware earlier than most when a fight or some other potentially dangerous situation is breaking out in the vicinity. ADHD comes in handy there.

And I’m always watching cars as a pedestrian because I’d be dead 10x over if I didn’t. Mostly turning right on green when I have a walk signal but they just fly through anyway.

it’s human nature.

you don’t have spidey sense.

Yeah it’s nothing special. But to be fair I see some people who walk around with their head in the clouds and zero situational awareness. Those definitely exist.

I see people just walk out in front of cars at stop signs without even a glance – in neighborhoods where people regularly fly through, barely tapping the brakes. One time that driver is going to be looking down at their phone, and you’re going to die. It won’t be your fault, but you’ll still be dead.

Those people are called Costco members.

97% of all new vehicles sold so far in Norway in 2025 are EVs.

i’m sure there are people that see a black person and think it’s weird and they’re up to something.
