My one note here is don’t bother with parrying unless you’re a savant. Even having it available means you don’t have an ash of war and many are very good and some even necessary i.e. sounds like you’re faith, in order to get faith scaling on your weapon you need to use a faith ash of war.
What’s the recommended level for fighting Godrick? I got deep into round two vs him, so I think I can do this, just need to grind for a while and then get good.
Can you not use ash of wars in unique weapons? I can’t seem to put one on my Moonveil.
No, just on regular ones.
Golden Vow and Sacred Blade are both pretty good for faith scaling and are easily accessible.
TBH I’m not totally sure exactly how they work like I used the starter greatsword for a long time and put a faith AOW on it and got faith scaling C and then B like from upgrades? And now I picked up a real faith scaling sword finally but I don’t have the option to put any AOW just my shield? IDK will probably look into it, its shockingly, confusing AF. If you figure it out let me know!
One thing though is to buy the “no skill” AOW in limgrave as it will make your shield not do anything and L2 will do your weapon’s skill otherwise your shield does it.
Oh and this “where to go in this game when” map was released today. Slight location spoilers. Shockingly I’m all over the place and getting my ass handed to me by like #16 when I haven’t done #12.
This is probably heavily dependent on how good at dodging you are. If you are a dodging savant, I’d imagine you could take him out at a very low level. I get wrecked if I get hit, so I’m heavily reliant on dodging, but I’m still not very good at it, so I’m working on increasing my damage so I don’t have to survive as long, lol.
Really? I was just getting my arcane high enough to use it. Seemed reasonably effective in the videos I was looking at.
Using a 2 sword light build and my L2 skill is far worse than my regular L1 attack
Well, in today’s “Physician, heal thyself” news, I apparently forgot that I was planning to toss a couple points into endurance after picking up the brass shield, and so I’ve been fat rolling for quite some time, despite having been explaining the mechanic in here. That, and an over reliance on my shield, are pretty explanatory for why I’ve been having the darndest time with the Night’s Cavalry, despite seemingly being well over-leveled and reasonably well-equipped. I finally beat the Night’s Cavalry anyway, and let me tell you, that Barricade Ash of War is an awesome crutch. Stagger virtually anything that thwacks you, which you can then hit with a heavy counter, break their posture, and then hit with a critical strike? Yes and please.
Had some lighter pants, so now I’m fast again, too. Wookie’s learned to putt. Uh-Oh!
Yeah, I was paranoid about that, too. It took me a while to figure out how to use 2 ashes of war, too. Like, you can have one on your weapon and shield, but if you have one on both, you can only use the one on the shield easily with L2/LTrigger. To use the sword one, you have to go into two handed sword mode, trigger it, and then go back to 1H. Kind of a chore, so I’m not sure how much I’m going to be using more than 1.
I got the sword-thats-in-every-souls-game and respecced from faith to int. Honestly casting in these games has never felt good to me and yeah I don’t even know what at all is good in sorcery. IDK I just slash at shit, I just look up and hours later I’m in the same exact gear and build as I am in all of these games, greatsword and board.
Siofra River is one of the most beautiful level designs in all of video gaming.
I did the same thing I did in DS2 or 3 where I went on forever before I realized I had Havel’s ring. The other day I randomly found I already had the equivalent pendant in ER. Then beefed up my armour
Even bring up the description on that dagger isn’t super helpful. Not really knowing how the special works, I didn’t think it was worth putting the dex points in to try it out, especially with the potential to respec still being a ways off.
They need a tab for new items or way to sort inventory for that. Too many times I forget the name of the new item and have to take a few minutes to finally find what it was.
so i’m completely unfamiliar with the crafting and leveling system here, anyone got a good resource?
Yeah no crafting here either not really my thing usually and haven’t heard anyone say “foo crafted item is really great” but could be wrong.
Really recommend you do something like every other level put it into vigor and main stat. I think faith is a decent start (“paladin” style where most of your damage is melee and you use incantations sparingly) and that got me to act 3 pretty easily. But the weapon scaling thing is not described at all so def uh google that and read a guide or you won’t hit hard at all.
I crafted some arrows. I dunno, crafting sucks in almost every game, idk why they forced it into a Souls game.
You always gotta have arrows so you can cheese some enemies, I learned that lesson from DS3.
It would be the most hilarious thing in the world if Miyazaki puts a mimic in this game near the very end. Like just when you’ve decided there aren’t any mimics, one gets you. Please don’t spoiler it if you get mimic’d in Elden Ring.
It was pretty hilarious that I found my first illusionary wall after like 30 hours.
