Everyone goes for that dussy the first time.

Really hope there’s some DLC planned would love to play again but after like 3 full playthroughs I can’t really justify it unless there’s something new to do though I’m like “oh I haven’t done this build” but yeah.

3? That’s psychotic

That’s the ending I planned to do, but I kind of got it on accident. I saw something glowing on the ground that looked like a message. Turns out it was the summon sign for Ranni and clicking on it once auto locks you into that ending. Weird how the game asks you to confirm that you want to re-summon your horse, but allows you to make a misclick that ends the entire game.

The ending itself was underwhelming. Hewg forgetting who I was after I burned the Erdtree had more of an emotional punch. Not sure what I was expecting, but was thinking maybe something along the lines of the more memorable cutscenes from the boss fights.

I’ve been playing through NG+ to get some things that I missed on the first play through, and fire giant is the first boss to give me a hard time. Killing Alexander early probably didn’t help.

That all changed when I switched to Ice Spear AOW on my +25 clayman’s harpoon. It absolutely melts him.

Anyone have any recommended “rune farms” that would be better than what I am doing now? Currently, I am killing the tiny dudes worth like 1024 runes outside the bestial sanctum in the red area of the map. I guess I’d prefer not some silly glitch where you get a billion instant runes because i somewhat appreciate the grind to get there but it is getting to the point to where is seems like its going to take a full day for me to level up to where i need to be for where I am.

Kill greyoll yet?

The traditional place is the grace on the hill in Mogh’s palace but getting there isn’t super easy.

Yeah greyroll should get you a few hundred thousand runes. It’s a big sleeping dragon outside of Fort Faroth in southeastern Dragonbarrow. You should be able to get there on horseback going south from Bestial Sanctum over the bridge and up the hill. You can kill the dragon without waking it up by hitting its tail from behind. It takes a while but bleed can make it go faster.

Yeah, I killed greyroll. I think I got like 70k runes, though. I’m currently doing the thing where you run around the rolling Boulder for 1900 over and over again. It’s about 2x nore efficent than what I was doing before so it’s good for now.

If you complete Varre’s quest and get the portal to Mogh’s temple, you can use it, run up the hill avoiding ~everything, get the grace, and then snipe the bird across the way in the lake of blood using your favorite bow. It’ll run off the edge, at least most of the time, for about 20k a pop. Slaughtering the albinauics on the hill, if you can, is also easy runes.

My drip’s outta control

Three months later

Almost have all the weapons in the game, and got all the spells, incants, talismans, and spirit ashes except Dung Eater puppet because I messed something up on that this play through. So I guess I will try for that on the next NG after I finish collecting everything I want in this one.

Best game I’ve played in years, can’t exactly say why I mean its basically impossible to figure out quests yourself etc etc but yeah so good. No DLC would be a huge mistake.

Yeah I hope they come out with some significant DLC. I would buy it.

Last night I started my first new character, and it’s amazing how much easier it seems. I think it’s mostly because I understand the mechanics much better, but part of it seems to be that samurai is a much better early-game class for my playstyle than bandit. I know I didn’t set any records, but I was pretty happy to beat Margit using melee only at level 22 this time.

Haven’t read this thread but I finally bought this for PS4. It doesn’t look like Amazon is directly selling the PS4 version now, found it as a Target CM sale for $40, off to pick it up. I’m not a huge gamer, my favorite games on PS4 have been Ghost of Tsushima, Witcher III, Skyrim, and hopefully this one. Is there some basic recommended guide I should glance at before playing or just dive in?

This is a rough, if not the roughest “dive in” game but based on your above games you should very much like it unless you can’t handle failure well and lets face if it you’re on this board we’re all experts at that.

As far as newb tips I’d just say start as a samurai and upgrade your starter sword as much as you can, it will last you 10+ hours.

I need a new game, and I have been considering Elden Ring.

Would you guys say it is

-Just like/a lot like Skyrim

-Sort of like Skyrim but not that much

or

-Nothing at all like Skyrim?

(I’ve also been thinking about replaying Skyrim)

Hmm similar-ish. Biggest difference between it and all other open world games is it doesn’t tell you what to do basically at all. Skyrim etc will put markers and quest logs and stuff, this is like “you’re supposed to go vaguely in this direction but you’d be better off just exploring everything first”.
