Elden Ring Friendship Circle

Have you tried St Trina’s sword? That will put him to sleep after a few hits.

I went and got that. Had to level my int from 7 to 14 to use it lol. I got him to fall asleep with two good hits, got in a combo before him waking up which leads to my dodging abilities getting me killed in no time. I suck but im too weak to be this far into the game, I think. I also need to level up health and learn some combat skills instead of just relying on lucky meleeing. One jab from him and im almost dead. So i will just focus on that for a bit.

Yeah, sleep just buys you a free hit or 3, but it’s invaluable later in the Duo fight, so you can ignore one of them. I am pretty impressed you made it all the way to Volcano Manor at such a low level. I am not sure I had gotten out of Stormveil at 40. I wasn’t that far until 80 or 90.

I’m at 42 with the bloodhound fand +3 with almost all my level ups going to dex so my sword is pretty damn strong relatively speaking. It worked well for me to eek my way passed the bosses as I think that setup helped a lot. But it feels like there is a big difference between this boss and red wolf which prolly took me 20-30 tries. Renalla was very easy for me. I just basically have zero defense, health, min magic and my build as they say aint going to take me past this boss.

Wow, that is an underleveled weapon for sure. Really impressive that you have made it that far, but I also not surprised you are struggling. You seem like you are much better at the mechanics of this game than I am.

yikes dude the fuck? You should have 30+ more levels at this point. The conventional wisdom is vigor every other level up to at least 30 vig. BH fang is good and all but here it should be +6 at least. Where’d all your runes go, I’m so confused. Red wolf 30 attempts?! Spend 1/2 hour leveling up you’ll breeze through this game after that.

Since I’ve started the game, I’ve done my best to not youtube/google much of anything really about the game or to help get myself out of sticky spots (other than posting here). It’s more enjoyable and relaxing that way but I do end up spending a laughable amount of hours sometimes getting almost nowhere. But I just enjoy it that way, for some reason.

I fail to level up a lot because Im more focused on getting somewhere or killing something to see what it is so end up dying too many times not taking advantage of a level. That will have to change, lol. My current rune farm is killing some real tiny dudes that give me 1000 runes up in the top corner of the red part of the map. I’m sure there are a lot more efficient ways to level up but it’s cool, this game has been a stress reliever from work for me. Sometimes.

I beat the Fire Giant with help from Alexander and my mimic tear. I used the Darkmoon Greatsword for phase 1 and Loretta’s Greatbow for phase 2. Looking up his stats afterwards, that wasn’t the easiest way to go, but it got the job done.

If you have just 12 faith, that is enough to wreck them with a heal incantation. You can probably get there with a talisman.

Yeah I’m using that trick. Sometimes the spell is to slow to go off or the enemy moves out of range and my character gets overwhelmed

Found Malenia. How many poison lakes can there be in this game? Got to her second phase after a few tries, and the she insta-killed me. I’ll give it another go tomorrow.

She get you with her flower attack? It helps a ton to un-target her, run under her while she’s up in the air, and then sprint left. Not really sure why that works so well, and I’ve seen some other things that work, but that worked consistently for me. She kidna reads your input, and seemingly in a related fashion, not targeting her means she doesn’t target you as much.

Congrats on getting that far, though. Even getting that far ain’t easy.

I’ve worked out a pretty good strategy for the Malenia fight

  1. Drink Mixed Physick of magic-shrouding cracked tear ceruelan hidden tear
  2. Use weapon art of Dark Moon Greatsword to further buff magic
  3. Enter fog door
  4. Cast Ranni’s dark moon
  5. Summon black knife assassin (steps 1-5 must be executed with precision timing)
  6. Hit her with a few special attacks from my sword to give her frostbite
  7. Evade a waterfowl dance (I can actually do this 10% of the time!)
  8. Switch to Rock Sling with Meteorite Staff in offhand for gravity buff
  9. Get to phase 2
  10. If I manage to avoid the initial scarlet rot dive bomb, get in a few hits and then get killed by one of her clones

I respeced my faith points to get to 46 vigor and 80 int, and I upgraded Black Knife Tiche to max level. I frequently get through Malenia’s first phase without taking any damage, but I’m still getting owned in the second phase. It’s a combination of her being more aggressive, Tiche dying, and me failing at dodging the second rot bloom attack. But I also think I may need to change my second phase tactics to take advantage of her lower poise.

I enjoy platforming in Elden Ring about as much as I enjoy the graphics in Minesweeper

I beat Maliketh, Placidusax, Gideon and Godfrey on Saturday, and did all of Subterranean Shunning Grounds, including the Three Fingers. It was a late night!

Now I’m finding Radagon and Elden Beast more challenging. Figured out how to reliably get through Radagon, but I’m still experimenting with best setup for Elden Beast.

Load up on holy resistance.
