Elden Ring Friendship Circle

Question, not sure if gltich or just stupid.

I’ve got Briars of Sin selected for my top slot which i cant use because my faith is too low so it shows the red X above it. I try to remove it but the "leave and the "dicard isn’t an option which may be right because i’m on the "inventory page and that seems the same for most items? Basically I am trying to use the poison mist but it looks like i need to remove the Brairs of sin somehow. THe briars of sin is also showing up in one of my three “memory slots” It doesn’t show I am able to “use” the poison mist in the inventory page even though I have the required attributes.

You probably need to memorize the spell at a site of grace

I think i got it figured out. I need the finger seal before anything will work.

Ah, that too. Seals for incantations and staffs for spells!

I got the poison mist working and had done so to use it against the tree sentinel who blocks the city. I snuck around his back side and began spraying and waiting with an initial glee that I was going to finally beat him and then i stopped half way through when I realized how stupid it would be to finally get past someone this way. I decided to fight him straight uo again for the 50th or so time and on the second attempt that trip was able to beat him on my horse with the bloodhound fang +6. I took it slower and timed my charges with the horse and after about a half an hour he finally perished lol.

Maybe next year I’ll beat godskin noble. No idea who I’m supposed to beat first but that’s kind of the fun I guess

Cant you run around the sentinel?

That’s how I beat him. I annoy the shit out of my kid by cheesing tough enemies when I can.

It’s hardly cheating to use in-game tools in their intended ways to beat difficult enemies. I mean, if you don’t find that fun, that’s fine too, but sheesh, a lot of people also enjoy discovering clever ways to beat the game rather than insisting on bonking enemies to death.

Oh, it’s not cheating, it’s “cheesing,” like fighting in a lame way. I think it’s fun, my son begs to differ (but he also thinks it’s funny).

I dunno. My line for “cheesing” is at taking advantage of unintended things, like the bug where bosses with phases would instantly die at the start of their second phase if their first phase ended while affected by status effects, or weird ways to trick bosses into getting stuck or jumping off cliffs.

It wasn’t so much the “cheezing” that turned me off and I agree that it’s a perfectly legitimate way to get past someone. When I got passed Margit and God Rick, I felt the accomplishment that I was finally good and strong enough to move on but the fights were enjoyable and I was a little bummed that they were gone for good. I didn’t want to move on to what was going to crush me next by getting passed the sentinel this way.

Running past a boss you can’t beat is a time-honored Dark Souls strategy.

I have to admit some of my favorite kills in this game have been from “cheesing.” Like when you can stand on the other side of a wall or rock and hit a boss with that mist over and over, they start cycling through all their elaborate fight moves in desperation, I can feel the video game character’s frustrated anger oh what joy for me! This is of course after the boss has easily killed me several times. There are still glitches where they can somehow hack you with their weapon through 10’ of solid rock, so look out for that.

I had one of the coolest-looking bosses die like this. It was some kind of giant ghost moose, maybe in Nokron? That one pissed me off because I only got to see a few seconds of it, enough where I was thinking “this is going to be a cool one!” and then it glitch-spazzed, fell through the floor, and had its health bar zoomed down to zero while it was out of sight.

After putting the sentinel to sleep and going through the castle to get my ass kicked by Godfrey, I decided to collect the smiting stones and got my bloodhound fang from +6 to +9. I went back to godskin and was able to beat him on my second try after faliling 50 or so attempts. I am not sure how difficult Godfrey will be now or who im even suppose to beat first. I just want to go to the snow area.

A Bloodhound’s Fang +9 is an end-game-caliber weapon. I’m not sure the game even expects you to have a weapon with that level of upgrades at that point. It’s cool with me to be over-leveled and over-equipped (I certainly was for most of the game once I got the hang of things), but you cap out at +10, so if you’re struggling with bosses with this weapon at this stage, you’ll want to think about a different build strategy or working on dodging boss mechanics. There’s a lot more game to go in which the bosses get even harder, and there won’t be that many more ways for you to increase your raw damage as you are. What stats and buffs are you investing in?

Im lvl 78
vigor 30
mind 9
end 15
dex 38
int 14
fai 12
arc 11

I noticed a big increase in my weapon when went from 6 to 9 and will probably be able to get past godrey, but we will see.

I know I’m lacking in a lot of other areas and a big part of it, like I may have said before, is that I enjoy going through games like this with as little help from outside sources of information (youtube, wiki, so forth) so I kind of get a little one dimensional with things. But I’m glad that it caps out at +10 to force me to focus on other areas.

IIRC the final boss is immune to bleeding damage, so Bloodhound Fang isn’t 100% optimal for that.

Oh, you’re still pretty low level, so you have a fair amount of power from stat scaling yet to come. I’m not sure what your strength is, but you might think about swapping to a nagakiba or uchigatana eventually, in which you can choose to have Keen scaling for a better dex focus, and it can be buffed with the mighty Blood Flame Blade, and infused with any ash of war you want, while the Bloodhound only has its own ash of war (which, if you love it, is fine to use, too). You’d have to get it to at least +20 or so to be comparable to what you have, though, and the regular smithing stones may be harder to come by at this point.

Got past godfrey after about 5 attempts with my new lvl9. Got through Margott the same day. Man, Margit and Margot were just a lot more fun compared to godrey, I’ll miss them both.
