Well I cant really answer the question of this thread as the Springsteen concert was only the 2nd one I visited. The first was also the Boss. I decided to go his concert because I heard he always had a big show and put in the effort timewise often going for 3-4 hrs. My problem with him and many other bands is that I know the songs you hear in the radio and maybe some more if yt puts them right in my face when i listened to one of popular ones. So I basically dont know the lyrics to many of them. There are probably 1-2 bands where I could sing a long more often but Abba doesnt do any concerts anymore and Bee Gees dont have many original members left. So that prevented me from going to concerts before because why go to a concert if you only really know one song from a certain band. I put Billy Joel on my list for the future because I know few from him but he cancelled his shows because of health reasons. With these longterm successful bands you also have the problem that they have a huge repertoire of songs so its often impossible to know the lyrics of all of them.
So today I had a seat in the stands and it was sometimes difficult to recognize the words the Boss sang which made it more difficult if you couldnt recognize the song from the music. Today he also made few efforts to gain few more “points” with Trump and the crowd cheered. One more reason for me to go to his concert as he speaks his mind.
Overall i probably would enjoy something a concert like Live Aid more where few different bands sing there popular stuff. If I want to listen to music I dont know I go to disco and get drunk on the dancefloor. Springsteen has the advantage that he has a real good band which makes goods music even if you dont know the particular song.
Overall taking a spot in one the ground in the middle if the concert is in a stadium seems like the better choice because you have easier access to toilets and bars. Getting out of the middle of a row is a nightmare and I am happy if my bladder plays along for a 3hr concert.

One of my favorite aspects of going to concerts is the afterimage, for lack of a better word, of the event. I get the chills hearing a song I recently saw performed live. I find that feeling persists longer if I hear a song I like for the first time live. A few of my favorite songs are ones I first heard from an opening band I knew nothing of prior to a show. I’m jealous you can go see someone as notable as Springsteen and hear his library for the first time.
General reply to the thread, going to see Styx, REO Speedwagon and Don Felder (Eagles) this Sunday. Decided to splurge $89 on 7th row seats. I wouldn’t put any of the three on my top ten want to see list, but I am stupidly excited to be hearing some notable hits of the 80s.
Saw Metallica four times, first being the “and Justice for all” tour, which they rocked and blew me away. Last was the “load/ reload” tour, where the stage “malfunctioned”, people fell from the rafters and caught on fire. While the theatrics were impressive, I haven’t considered seeing them again

Saw the combo as Felder/Styz/Foreigner prolly around 2017. Very good show.

Thought I would run down an absolutely Stellar (youll cwidt shortly) weekend of music.
Friday night kicked off with a 20 minute set by Paris Jackson, she of the daughter of Michael fame. Beautiful voice, competent guitar playing. Great way to spend 20 minutes. Following her was a one hour set by The Manchester Orchestra. If you havent heard these guys before go out and find something by them. Im new to their music and it was fantastic. Not much crowd interaction, but damn did I have a good time listening to them jam. The main event of Friday was a two hour set by Incubus. Getting to see them in a 4500 person venue is pretty rare these days as I believe they are regularly selling out arena size gigs. They played the entirety of Morning View and then about an hour of just straight radio play singles. Rocked my face off and filled the venue with smoke for fucking lazers. Absolute banger of a show and one that was on my short list of never seens.
Crowd was fucking incredible as well. Well behaved, stood the whole time, were considerate and showed their tickets easily. Absolutely no problems from my floor entrance station the entire night.
Hell, they didnt even fucking spill their booze all night. 10/10 crowd.
Saturday brought a one hour opening set by The Mavericks. So much fun, legendary Tejano country music. Lead singer is bombastic and incredible on the mic. The horns were rocking, the banjo was on point. Incredible set. Closing Saturday was a 90 minute set by Dwight Yoakam. Very fun show, still has a great voice though hes starting to get Grandpa Simpson telling the onion story brain with some of his stories between songs. He told one where he recounted an entire scene from a Beau/Jeff Brdiges movie, and an 8 minute tale about Billy Bob Thronton driving through northern California and being abducted by aliens.
Was by far my favorite country show at the venue in my year working there. It helped that I didnt see a single bit of MAGA wear. Nice crowd but those fuckers dont know how to not spill a beer.

Third Eye Blind played a one off (see: non touring performance) at the Venue last night.
Incredible. Stephan still really has it voicewise. Crowd was into every song inclduing the new stuff, and when they played Jumper they hit a giant disco ball with all yhe lights and lit up the whole place. Top 10 concert memory.

I’m supposed to be seeing The Offspring tonight. It may not happen as both openers have been cancelled due to technical issues at this shit ass venue.
Someone recently mentioned Offspring as an outstanding show. Hope it goes for you.
I sold t-shirts at a festival that included them, Cake, The Crystal Method, Green Day and a bunch of others in 2001. We had a goon patrolling the crowd and confiscating unlicensed t-shirts. Offspring lead singer encouraged the crowd to rush the stage to see if security could handle it. There were probably 20 bands in the lineup I can’t recall at all.
