Yeah I refuse to even consider Bloomberg a real candidate until he does more than just dump money to buy unfavorable ratings double his favorables. That guys campaign has a ceiling around where it is now.
Yang’s real strength is with those typically low turnout voters (his entire platform is aimed at them squarely). I can’t point to any data until after people actually go to primaries and vote, but you guys are in for a surprise.
I’m fairly certain Yang is very far behind where Bernie was at this stage in 2016, re:appealing to people other than anti-establishment young voters. If Bernie were not in this race, I think Yang would have a small (albeit near-zero) chance. With Bernie in the race, his chance is basically zero.
Bernie was in a two horse race at this point in 2016 so the comparison doesn’t work. I’ll agree that Bernie and Liz have the left lane blocked almost completely, which is why it’s a good thing Yang does pretty well with conservatives and moderates when they actually get exposed to him. He’s attacking Biden’s lane not Bernie’s. Put another way Yang is a Bernie who can pitch his ideas to moderates and conservatives with very strong results… and still be second choice for a sizable portion of the Bernie crowd.
I think you guys are going to be shocked by the turnout that dude generates. Tomorrow is a very important day for his campaign. Fingers crossed he gets to answer a lot of questions.
Who did that? I’m probably well under 1 pro Yang post a day on average. He usually doesn’t come up. I just happen to think he’s got a lot more upside than most of you are giving him credit for… and so far I’m right. Because he’s still trending up and vastly outperforming expectations.
He’s at 3%. He has been at 3% the whole time. He’s not trending up, he’s not exceeding any expectations, he’s not a talented politician, and he is not getting anyone out to vote. He’s a guy with a venture capitalism background who happens to support a good idea in UBI. Those are literally his only qualifications.
He’s literally never been a VC (in fact his net worth is lower than Bernie’s), he just polled at 6% in the most recent Emerson poll, and he’s very talented. You just dislike him because you think he competes with Bernie. Bernie disagrees with you btw.
He’s got way more to offer ideas wise than just UBI, but you’re absolutely right that it’s a good idea.
Hey that’s a great call. I enjoyed this one so much that I read the book, listened to the audiobook, and watched the Hulu adaptation. Did you get to watch the adaptation? Did you like it?
