Democratic Primary Debates

I wasn’t able to watch last night but just read 700+ posts in here. Thank you for the cliffs, nicknames, and recaps.

For the record, I don’t support her. And if she’s lying to me well, so much more so. I have nothing other to go on than what she says. I have not been interested enough in her to thoroughly research her specific policies and stances. What she said about regime change last night seemed suspect to me.

There’s a phenomenon on here (and perhaps on the entire internet?) to take a simple observation out of context and have a group pile on. I’ve never supported Gabbard. I just think she hasn’t received a fair shake from the media much like Sanders and Yang. I’m willing to listen to all candidates with an open mind if there is anything I like about them. Her being a vet and having such an anti-war stance that seemed to align with my anti-war stance and got my attention. That’s all

The media isn’t forcing Lulzi to go out of her way to avoid criticizing Assad and Putin when directly questioned about them. She’s doing that herself. I’ve seen it with my own eyes several different times.

The media also isn’t forcing her to poast yootoobz talking about how we all just need to get the fuck over Trump’s treason because Mueller said no collusion. She’s doing that herself, too.

She’s literally been more critical of fellow Dems than of brutal dictators! Fuck her, fuck her in the ear, fuck her in the other ear.

My biggest problem is that it was so obvious (at least to me) that they were never going to find Trump guilty on conspiracy charges. There was zero chance that was going to bring him down, yet it attracted so much media coverage that the rest of his illicit dealings and practices got lost in the shadows

And after the whole Mueller fiasco it is 100% provable that Trump obstructed justice. It’s plain as day, yet nothing was done about it. So what makes you think anything will come of his asking foreign governments to investigate Biden? Trump probably commits at least 1 impeachable offense per day. I absolutely do feel he should be impeached. I’m just not sure it will help anything

Yeah, well that’s the case with a lot of far left progressives (including myself right now?). I just don’t give a fuck because we’ve long known what an incompetent, brazenly criminal douche Trump is. Nothing that POS does should surprise any of us at this point. I think many on the left are so brainwashed by MSM and have such a hatred for Trump (as do I), that they take their eye off the ball. I wanna focus on getting rid of the status quo establishment, the greedy corporate system riggers, and corruption on both sides. Period. Trump will not be president forever and our problems started well before he got elected. I’ve said this a million times… He’s the symptom, not the disease

I think Sanders, Warren, and Yang came off well last night. I wish there were a way to do debates in some different format without the stupid loaded questions from MSM. They didn’t even bring up the environment and many other worthwhile topics

More of the same kind of work?

It does strike me as the sort of movie made for Academy Award judges. Not to take away from the movie’s artistry or technical achievement. I don’t generally like musicals, but this video made me think La La Land would be worth watching (while at the same time making me feel like I no longer needed to watch it).

Just incredible to understand all of the references the movie makes to the musicals that came before it and to the history of cinema in general.

Thank you for pointing that out. I didn’t realize it was made on such a budget. $30 million lol.

Let’s all relive that moment again together :anguished:

I thought La La Land was great and I generally detest musicals

This is of course correct because it either happens or it doesn’t.

Odds go in, odds go out. You can’t explain that.

Mueller  wasn’t  investigating  Trump

The  Mueller  probe  was  not  a  fiasco

She’s an isolationist with nuanced views on interventionism. Another way to describe this is ‘she’s a liar’. She went out of her way to complain that Obama wasn’t willing to use the bigoted line regarding terrorists. So if you’re going to play next to the deep end sitting in the kiddie pool, you better be ready to get grilled. She does not want all the attention the real media attention she craves will give her. She would have to drop out even sooner when her fraud is exposed to all the rest of the people not paying attention to her.

I’ve said too much already. I think Barry Jenkins told a very personal story that was relatable to everyone. You can’t do better than that in moviemaking. Lion was also an incredible movie that year.

I’m with you on the ‘detest musicals’ thing. I did stuff for a few really good ones, but basically actively avoid them. La La Land’s big set piece was annoying to me, but the rest of it worked as a musical for me (in that it didn’t make me want to claw my eyes out).

No worries nunnehi, I understand the need for discretion. I appreciate your stories and insight when you’re able to offer them.

On Mueller, Dems did a piss poor job of messaging and they got owned by Barr and weren’t prepared to fight back… Lol eDems for that… The only thing more predictable than their failure to fight back on that was what Barr would do himself given his track record.

The Ukraine thing is easier to package up and message on, you can explain it to the average American in 2-3 sentences. Hence, the Dems are moving on it and they are very likely to vote to impeach him in the House.

The squad endorsing Bernie is probably a good thing for both Bernie and Warren and potentially for all of us on the progressive end of the party. There’s a chance it reinvigorates his campaign and positions her as the “left but not crazy left” candidate. In the end it could actually further marginalize Biden and the other moderates and make the campaign more about Warren v Bernie.

That last part is probably mostly wishcasting, but I think overall it helps those two for now.

It was an optic fiasco for Dems

Centrist Dems probably aren’t ready yet for a Warren or Sanders, but Jesus, Biden did look pretty sleepy to me last night. He kept stumbling over his words and caused me more concern about his age than Sanders’

biden vs trump debates where both speak in the language of jibberish

Look at her wikipedia (all politicians with high aspirations have massively scrubbed wikipedia entries).

The point I made about her dissing Obama is that she had to be pressed into doing the same thing he wouldn’t do that she criticized him for.

When it comes to Tulsi think of it like this. This is a person who considers herself an isolationist. She has a massive amount of views on foreign policy. Isolationists with a lot of views on foreign policy are not isolationists. They’re selective assassins. Oh, and she was in the military as an isolationist. She could have been like John Kerry in relation to his service, but she throws out the ‘I’m a veteran’ card any chance she gets. She’s a walking talking ball of contradictions, and I’m just pointing out the in your face contradiction that makes no sense. Honesty is not something she’s good with.

She also said the Mueller report had ‘no collusion’, and all of her foreign policy ‘interests’ in ‘isolationism’ just so happen to align with what Putin wants. She’s a liar and a fraud. She can’t get elected as a GOP, and that’s why she’s a Dem.

He actually looks pretty scary in that picture to me. I didn’t know college pictures were a thing.

He looks like a guy who’s about to get in a fight to me.
