Democratic Primaries 2020 - With a whimper

Fair enough. Maybe wheatrich will explain why he thinks it will help Trump.

(he said something about polling, but there’s been polling on Trump-Biden-Amash???)

I think that perhaps the overall consistency of Trump’s approval ratings throughout his Presidency makes people feel like he has a certain percentage of the vote locked up. The Biden support, on the other hand, seems a little squishier, so it’s easier to imagine that some of that group could be peeled away.

It also depends on what kind of campaign Amash runs. If he runs a, “let me just remind everybody why I voted to impeach this clown” campaign, it should help Biden. If he adopts an, “all government is terrible, especially if it’s going to be run by either of these two old, corrupt mfers” message then I think it could erode some Biden support.

They’re worried that their mythical unicorn swing voter republican is going to vote Amash instead of Biden, who they desperately need since they did everything possible in their power to fuck voter turnout again.

I’m definitely not voting for him, but Amash is pretty obviously a better person than Biden from what we currently know.

My mom voted Obama in ‘08, either stayed home or voted Romney in ‘12, and Trump ‘16. She has already said she’ll vote Biden over Trump, but I could see her voting Amash if he gets any kind of news coverage.

On the flip side, I am suspicious of her claim that she’ll vote Biden and my assumption is she will come up with a reason not to by November, so maybe Amash will just give her a softer landing spot than Trump.

I would think a lot of people with this profile will argue themselves from voting Biden because Trump is awful, to hearing lots of bad things about Biden so wavering on voting for him, to possibly considering an Amash type because “Biden is so bad, there are all these news stories about him”, to voting Trump because they “didn’t want to throw their vote away” and “it’s important to support the President in a crisis”.

The Dems will do nothing about controlling this narrative because they will get stuck on “Trump Bad” and then be shocked when they lose.

Yeah I still think that’s the most likely scenario. But if we’re counting on a significant number of Trump —> Biden voters to take back some swing states (which seems to be the strategy given the complete radio silence towards voters on the left), having some small portion of the in betweeners land on Amash seems like a benefit to Biden. I can honestly see it going either way.

What exactly is his response? It seems like they’re leaning pretty hard on the NYTimes article based on this tweet

Biden hasn’t responded at all. He has never been asked about it.

You have me confused with someone else. I would sooner simply stay home than show up to vote for a third party candidate with zero chance of winning. I value the 14 minutes it takes me to drive to the poll, vote, and return home more highly than making a silly political statement to nobody in particular.

I know the same can be said about one man’s vote not really mattering in the grand scheme of an election even if you cast it for a mainstream candidate, but that feels different for some reason.

Ron Johnson’s senate race is what made me put pants on and vote in 2016, not the HRC v Trump battle. Maybe that’s what you’re misremembering.

People have pressed her on that, and the response was that she was okay with what the campaign has been saying. You’re right, Biden hasn’t said anything. Nor would I expect him to.

Don’t put your fingers in unwelcome vaginas, obviously, but his opponent is Donald “Grab 'em by the pussy” Trump, so who in their right mind even cares if he did it or not? Unless this is strictly about digging up the corpse of Bernie Sanders to ride in on Invincible and save the day at the convention.

Conservatwitter is basically all in on Reade at this point. It’s just a matter of time before she’s cutting Trump campaign ads with or without her consent. Maybe there will be a blank where we can at least write in Bernie? One last free-election hurrah? For old time’s sake?

Nah, I thought it was Gary Johnson. It was probably raradevils who voted for him.

Stacy Abrams’s capacity to shill for the establishment is breathtaking.

Tried to get caught up with the thread and quickly threw in the towel. Am I still expected to vote blue no matter who?

Depends. What is your position on lying whores who try to bring down great men out of jealously and spite?

And that’s from Inso0. Hardcore donkeys are building ducking-stools and scold’s bridles.

Also does “Come on, man, I heard you liked me” sound like something Joe Biden would say after a failed fingerbanging attempt? Come on, man.

Sounds like a bunch of malarkey to me.

I had to consult google for this one.

Are dems actually attacking Tara Reade? I thought this was just a “It doesn’t look like anything to me” situation and is just being ignored by anyone who isn’t a Bernie Bro.
