Democratic Primaries 2020 - With a whimper

That’s an interesting comparison but I don’t think it holds exactly.

It’s a better argument for his attacking Biden than it is for him whining about Bernie again.

I mean sorry lol? That part of my post was in parentheses so like it wasn’t to be taken as the critical point or some serious accusation. I believe you that it wasn’t intentional. The posts you quoted are dumb enough on their own, just wanted to say that there were even worse ones.

Again, this is all in response to a 5 word tweet.

Why would that invalidate anything? This isn’t a game!

This whole debate is stupid. Bernie Bros are as prevalent as the people who say they won’t vote for Bernie because of Bernie bros. Can we move on?

To what though? Agreeing again that trump is dogshit? I’m completely open to the idea that online political discussion is utterly pointless and counter productive. But if we’re gonna have a left leaning “echo chamber” (the horror) what else is there to discuss that we disagree about?

Like if we all agree that X, Y and Z are the preferred policies then the only discussion is how best to achieve them. So far the only options on the table are keep at a plan that’s failed for 40 years and led directly to trump or burn everything to the ground and start over. And they’re not even on the table because no one on this forum has any power to carry those strategies out even if they completely convinced the other side (which will obviously never happen). I say let the people get their dopamine from being righteously angry (on both sides). That’s basically all that we can do.

The only political activity we can do that has real value would be joining pocketchads on the front lines. But the capitalists have made me far too comfortable to risk that. I don’t have to courage to put my personal convenience on the line in that way and neither do 99/100 of us.

Introspect a little here. What the fuck are any of you doing? Trying to get the last word in a discussion about… posting?

I don’t think you are fairly characterizing the posters here. I’d guess the majority are engaged in direct action, door knocking, donating etc to a degree far higher than the average population. The people here don’t at all strike me as just bloviating. Sure everyone does that sometimes but it’s not fair to say that’s all that happens here.

Maybe I’m just projecting. This activity feels like yelling into the void. I think if people had actual concrete tangible political action in their lives they wouldn’t feel it necessary to do.

There is certainly a fair amount of yelling into the void. Sometimes we all need a little of that, especially in these times. I know I use this place for that purpose sometimes.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I dont view the socialists that are responding to that Mondaire tweet as Democrats whose votes establishment dems should take for granted. I fully understand that these people should be voting for Biden as that is the only chance they will ever see their ideals implemented. The new progressive candidates have brought these far left voters into play for the dems, much like how Trump brought in far right nazis that may not have voted GOP otherwise.

Attacking Bernie for the actions of some far left socialists who he tried to bring into the party and are now saying “no thanks, that’s not what we stand for” is super shitty.

Yes, they should be voting straight ticket dem and not attacking any dem candidates. But not everybody is capable of thinking that logically, and if they were never dem voters before I can’t necessarily blame them for speaking out against centrists.
