Thanks, great post, lots in here I agree with and some I think I disagree with. I was under the impression that a lot of Joe’s alleged swing state appeal was that racist, misogynistic Trump voters that hate Hillary actually kind of like Joe because he’s old and white and says “c’mon man” a lot and lectures millennials. In other words, some of his appeal is that he’s “Trump lite” to these blue collar racist union dudes. Of course there’s more to it than that but I think there is a misconception that some Trump supporters are in fact persuadable.
You are probably right on that.People do say “Joe will convert those midwestern deplorable asshats” but I don’t really buy it and don’t think it’s needed. Hopefully these people won’t be motivated to turn out at all. In terms of strategy, sometimes you just have to do the same thing you did last time that lost. Like you can’t fold KK pre just because you ran into AA last time.
Agree on the first half, not on the second.
He’s not going after young people at all.
We’ll see what the turnout is ,but the last election shattered youth participation for a midterm. The primary crashed back to standard levels though. It really just may be all about Trump and voting against republicans.
One thing for sure is Biden has to be the worst imaginable candidate to attract the youth vote. That’s one way he might actually be worse than even Trump.
Yes to the first part. Well, almost. Bloomberg would have been worse.
No to the second part. The under-30s are going to vote overwhelmingly for Biden over Trump. The big question is whether there will be enough of them.
Ya for sure. I was being cheeky by suggesting that trumps social networking savvy and trolliness would attract a certain youth set, in a vacuum. Biden is the boring grandpa nobody wants to talk to.
Obviously, in a real head to head, Biden will wipe the floor with trump in the youth vote.
I’m sure this is news to zero people here but apparently Kavanaugh accusation = joke, Biden accusation = slam dunk, sorry just venting
He’s not great for the youth turnout, but unfortunately nobody this cycle really was.
If you’re still surprised by double standards at this point I envy you.
Well Bernie had a pretty huge youth contingent.
He did great with young people that bothered to show up. But he didn’t get a ton of them to the polls in the first place.
In terms of strategy, people say focusing on Trump is a bad idea. But Bernie ran a far less Trump centric primary than Biden and couldn’t turn out enough voters to beat him. So in a sense that decision has already been made.
I just happened upon this (was playing with video submissions for my walrus game)
This guy really loves to put people in jail.
Is this where we talk about the Dems pissing away Katie Hill’s old seat? In Los Angeles? In California? In a mail-in election? Or is there a dedicated thread for that?
yea i meant for GOP, what side do you mean took both as credible? other than this forum i guess…
tara’s story doesn’t add up and she lacks credibility, there’s a reason this story was ignored by the major news networks for so long and is still largely ignored
There are journalistic standards believe it or not, and her accusations were vetted and thought not worthy to make public. Most non-right wing networks still abide by these standards
What’s the chain of events here that leads her to tell a bunch of people about this in the 90’s, all of whom either publicly corroborated it at the time (Larry King/ex husband’s court filings), or corroborate it now (the neighbor/friend), but actually it’s all a lie?
Like she decided to carefully construct a lie over the course of 30 years to wait until Biden is 78 and falls backwards into the Presidential nom?
The media got us a war in Iraq and Afghanistan shut the fuck up about how credible they are
This generalization would be stupid if you were talking about something happening today. The fact that you are taking about something that happened 19 years ago makes it truly insane. So your thesis is the entire media is what “fake”. Sounds familiar.
