Iām going to both sides a little bit. Biden doesnāt give a shit and just wants to do his profession - which is to be a politician. He might as well be greener now if thatās whatās popular.
And is he in the pockets of the fossil fuel companies? Not really. Heās more of an insurance/finance guy. Will he reform health care in any way that doesnāt shovel money to Wall St and Health Insurance Companies? Lol, no. Can we trust him on financial or corporate reform? Lol, no. But, heās not committed to rolling coal even if he campaigned on it in 2008.

Biden is almost certainly a rapist. He is also, by any measure, way more of a progressive than trump. Both things can, and are, true.
I mean ricin is way more toxic than arsenic. If someone said āthereās no meaningful difference between ingesting arsenic and ingesting ricinā theyād still be correct.
Biden is better than trump on the environment, but there is still no meaningful difference between them.

In 2016, the generic ballot was a coin flip. Republicans were winning about 50% of the generic ballot polls in Nov 2016. (republicans ended up winning house popular vote by 1%). Currently, republicans have not won a generic ballot survey (like in a single poll) for 18(!) months and dems lead by 8 on average. So to directly answer your question, Biden can do better than Hillary simply because the dem base is up about 7 points from where it was in 2016.

I hope youāre right, what I am worried about is the perversion of Electoral College math. Like, Hillary won the popular vote. Biden could possibly win the popular vote by more, but still lose. I think there has to be a specific strategy for flipping states, and I really worry about the strategy being to persuade a large percentage of a small cohort of 2016 Trump voters in swing states, vs. persuading a small percentage of the large number of people being failed by both parties.
I of course may be wrong, but I am driven by my personal experience in business. Trying to grow a business by fighting tooth and nail for clients that are already satisfied with you competitorsā products by offering products similar to your competitors is fucking hard. Making new products that meet an unmet need of other potential clients usually works out better.

Sure, Biden might lose and he might lose in a similar fashion to Hillary. That would be true no matter what dems were doing right now. But I disagree that Biden is specifically going after a large % of Trump voters in these swing states. Heās also going after Obama voters who stayed home or voted third party in 2018 and people now old enough to vote. I think any Trump voter who is āhappy with the productā is ungettable. Fortunately, there werenāt all that many Trump voters in swing states to begin with and many seem unsatisfied, going by Trump approval. I think trying to get turnout from people who donāt vote at all and feel both parties are failing them was a big part of Bernieās primary strategy and it failed pretty badly.
