Democratic Primaries 2020 - Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

I get to vote tomorrow. It has been very fun seeing my wife who is not super political get all in for Bernie and seeing the donations to him in our bank statements that I know weren’t mine(donating to a candidate is not something she has ever done and she probably would have told me it was stupid before this).

One thing I have thought about that is a silver lining to all of the stooges lining up behind Biden is that if this doesn’t work and Bernie crushes tomorrow it’s all over. There are basically no more bullets in the gun besides straight ratfucking him. It’s pretty amazing that we have a chance to help make that happen tomorrow.

So one more bullet then. The break-glass-in-case-of-emergency silver one.

I suggest us Bernie fans all vote for whoever the Dems nominate and then declare ourselves an independent nation no longer subject to the United States Government. Even if they nominate Bernie we should do that.

So this is a goalpost shift. I don’t even know what you think neutered means in this context, but, the EDems all still have more power with Bernie as President than with Trump. The reason the Rs get in line is because they realize they have more power with Trump in office than a D. It’s the same for the EDems. They know that and understand that game better than any of us. It’s not a conspiracy, these people just think an unapologetic socialist cant win the the presidency.

I’m not saying it’s a conspiracy at all. I agree people are acting in their own self interest. You think the DNC and Democrat politicians are going to continue to be able to leech off of the donor class and continue to pay bare lip service to their actual voters if Bernie takes over the party?

The 2014 GOP basically doesn’t exist anymore. That’s my point. Republican party insiders warned for pretty much all of 2015/2016 that Trump couldn’t win, that he would destroy downballot races, etc. Then he won and guess what those people have either bent the knee or been purged from the party. That seems awfully familiar.

aaand…here we go again.

“universal health care” does not equal “Bernie’s plan and only Bernie’s plan.” If your post had said “single payer” I’d be less likely to argue, but single payer is only one way to get to universal health care.

But given the option between Joe’s “plan” and Bernie’s plan, i’ll take Bernie’s.

Yes. It’s not like Trump replaced McConnell.

Edit: The “pay bare lip service” part is bullshit.

Guess what, Rubio still doing fine.

That’s because McConnell has been a very good boy.

Dude it isn’t. What actually meaningful liberal or progressive policy have they achieved or even attempted to achieve in the last 40 years? Meanwhile at every turn they vote to give money to the military industrial complex, the wall, concentration camps at the border the prison industrial complex and on and on.

The Joe Bidens of the party(which lets be fair basically is the vast majority of it) are literally the roadblock to progress. They have no intention of pursuing it and Joe’s policies themselves this election are barely even bare lip service.

I mean Joe Biden’s son literally took millions of dollars from a literally massively corrupt Ukranian oligarch, and Joe Biden didn’t blink an eye because it is perfectly normal in his massively corrupt world. Then he made all of us go out their and defend his son’s massive corruption because we are all marks that he and his cronies have been playing for fools for literally decades.

Sorry, but after having a taste of the real thing in Bernie, I cannot go back to this bullshit. And the so called progressive party trying to force this on me is a sick joke.

All of these people and everyone within six degrees to Kevin Bacon of them are loving that sweet gravy train money from big pharma and insurance. One of the Biden bundlers is that Centene CEO who is an undisputed winner of ACA having seen an astronomical increase in value since the law passed. He’s also a funder for (almost entirely) GOP congressional seats. There are hordes of him with tons of money to throw at this shit to make sure nothing changes. Joe Biden is his perfect “nothing changes” candidate.

Obamacare, end of Iraq war, gay marriage.

I don’t think Bernie would be likely to substantially hurt the DemE in the long run. He would cost them money. He would prevent them from directing campaign funding based on Party loyalty. He would direct funding based on policy. But that would only last during his tenure. The only lasting impact would be if it actually were a movement and he swept lots of AOCs into office and that’s not super likely.

The Party establishment also hated Jimmy Carter and it’s why Ted Kennedy primaried him. Iirc Governor Moonbeam also entered the 1976 campaign quite late in an effort to block Carter. Carter came into Washington with a bunch of yokels from Georgia and kept the DC insiders at arm’s length. Didn’t do anything permanent though.

The Supreme Court made progress on gay marriage. Stopping a war the party supported including Biden is not an accomplishment. Loled at Obamacare though.

The Iraq War is not over.

The Party as a whole did not support the Iraq war. Something like 2/3rds of Senate Dems voted against the authorization.

The Supreme Court ended gay marriage thanks to liberal justices appointed by Clinton and Obama. The exact way Republicans push their agenda now.

The Senate Dems voted 29 yea vs 21 nay for the Iraq AUMF.
