Democratic Primaries 2020 - Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

No matter how progressive and pro equality I think I am, this is why I’ll always refer to myself as a recovering racist. I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve never even thought about forgiving student loan debt from this angle before

I get what you’re saying and definitely have to think more about it. I’ve always viewed our education system as favoring the white or middle class and oppressing poorer minority communities from K thru the 12th grade. That is to say, I never even thought about college opportunities and assumed the entirety of our educational system was unfair and good education was biased towards mostly white and upwardly mobile people

That said, it can’t be a good thing for anyone if whites and ( I have to assume at least a fair number of non-whites?) start off life saddled with insurmountable debt. It can’t be good for them and it can’t be good for the ever growing wealth inequality problem we face. So I still have to side with forgiving student debt and making public colleges tuition free and investing in educational opportunities for poor communities

That… Is gold! lol

I had not considered a Marianne VP pick. Would certainly be unorthodox but on the other hand Oprah voters are exactly the demographic Bernie needs the most. :face_with_monocle:

uhhh, in all seriousness, I feel the same way about her as Rogan. I’m glad she’s on board but idk if it’s good to boast about her endorsement.

Honestly ‘Libs’ would be wise to understand the way you change what people think are not by voting them off the island but listening to what they have to say and politely explaining that they are wrong. If you can’t explain it to these types of people how will you ever win on the ‘battlefield of ideas’?

If he picks that quack I will lose a lot of respect for Sanders.

I don’t think he will but was food for thought

I stopped doing Marianne’s food for thought In my 20’s :dark_sunglasses:

There’s not a chance in hell he picks Williamson.

Endorsement is good though and I don’t mind if she goes to rallies or w/e.

Tammy Baldwin has to be the choice.

Tammy is great but her Senate seat would actually be a risk to lose.

I’d let anyone pick at least 5 people and take the field, maybe they could take 10. It will probably be someone that no one here as mentioned.

(not that he’ll win the nom, but 50%+ of the delegates is getting possible to imagine)

If going with Baldwin gives Bernie + >1% WI equity, f the seat. I’d be mildly concerned with the lack of minority representation but I like this pick better than Warren.

I think Wisconsin as a state and college educated white women generally are a must-get. More important than the risk of losing the seat.

How does that work anyway? She won re-election in 2018 and they have a dem gov.

She destroyed Vukmir in 2018 and beat Tommy Thompson handily in 2012. I think she could move the needle a couple points.

It goes to special election and WI is one of the few states where the Governor doesn’t get to make an interim appointment.

Ah, that’s too bad.

That said Tammy should definitely be on the short list. Making sure WI has a strong Dem candidate to run for her seat is important though. She is probably the most liberal Senator in the country relative to the state she is elected from.
