Democratic Primaries 2020 - Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Castro makes perfect sense.

Sets up some Trump lines as well.

Tulsi, tho. One fake heart attack and you still have a Russian agent in the White House.

Lol just got a text from the Bloomberg campaign  how’d they get my number? Only gave $ to Bernie am I on some DNC list forever now? :expressionless:

Just got canvassed by a Bernie volunteer :+1:

She said I was the first person she talked to today who was a strong supporter :-1:

What state?

MA

Liz and Mike territory I’m guessing.

Just glad it’s not Midwest or Fla/AZ.

All dems that want access to the DNC’s database are required to share whatever new info they get with the DNC. The way Bloomberg is throwing money around he could have gotten it from a non political directory too.

That’s cause no one who pays 0 attention to politics knows about her. Give Warren a bunch of news coverage and she’ll do just fine. She’s the quickest wit of the democratic party and probably prepares the most

If the vote is Trump or Bloomberg then democracy in this country is dead

The same people that voted for Trump in 2016 and said if he blew up the economy we needed to start over anyway are now in tears because Bernie will blow up the economy.

OK, but why would have to guess?

Goofyballer has posted a lot, for a long time! And he shares a bunch too. This is a relatively small community, you absolutely should know everyone’s info if you pay attention.

Skydiver8? Guessing some berniebro scared of airplanes and heights.

Jesus fucking Christ.

My preference is roughly Warren, Pete, Bernie, Klob, and I am more of a neolib than most on this site. That said, I will crawl over broken glass to vote for Bern vs Trump. Hell, I’ll probably put up a sign.

Still, I can foresee the next two months where every “never Bern” dem is amplified and quoted and retweeted, even though there will be few of them. And Bernie Bros will harp endless on how the DNC is out to ratfuck Bernie, like they are bizzaro Trump supporters who need conspiracies to maintain their interest. Bernie is fine, most “establishment” dems think he is fine, and I would be more than happy to back him. As usual, Yglesias has it right:

(Hell, I’m even debating voting for him when I fill out my CA mail ballot later today, but I’ll stick with Warren as she was second in the last national poll I saw.)

Have you elsewhere broken down your reasoning behind candidate preference order?

The main reasons I have Pete slightly ahead of Bernie is 1) youth (in an ideal world I think we should cap presidential candidates at 70), 2) seems more focused on structural issues, such as ending the filibuster and doing something about the Supreme Court, 3) I suspect he will be more focused on using the mechanics of law to implement his long term agenda, 4) he may be more unifying.

Why I prefer Bernie: 1) He’s put in the hours in terms of effort and experience, 2) he does have more of a movement backing him, and I suspect he’ll play well in WI, MI, PA, 3) pretty sure he’s at least agnostic and will get rid of the BS religious pandering that the GOP loves, 4) he’s not gay and may appeal to more anti-elite, cultural conservative voters that would be alienated by Pete.

I’ve been reading this book by a sociologist who visited “tea party” whites in LA to try to understand their worldview, Strangers In Their Own Land: Anger and Mourning on the American Right. What a liberal sociologist learned from spending five years in Trump's America - Vox I could see a fair number of these sorts of people supporting Bernie, maybe enough to swing some purple states.

Again, Warren is pretty much my dream candidate, an elite law professor who bootstrapped herself and is focused on structural economic issues and the legal regimes that undergird them. I think she is smarter about this stuff than Bernie, but I think Bernie supports similar goals and will rely on the expertise of Warren and people like her.
