Democratic Primaries 2020 - Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Not sure if it’s in the same vein, but “Lincoln was a Republican, Democrats were the racist slave owners” is another…

Biden has a planned speech in NV Saturday. Thinking Culinary might endorse him would should bring up the PI chances. He’s at 15c now. Thinking of hammering it.

Nevada’s gonna be a bloodbath:

Great news for Bern.

D)Other

Grandpa Joe.

Lol yeah that one’s amazing. And pretending to have no idea about the Southern Strategy or that the racists switched sides.

In the same vein - pretending Nazis were actually socialists.

Random thought - I’m wondering why Bernie does not support reparations…for those who have paid off student loan debt!

Assuming he is elected, and gets free college passed, college debt erased, seems like an awkward situation for people currently paying their loans (some might think it is +EV to not pay at all and let them accrue interest, for example, but then if it doesn’t get passed, they lose even more money). I think some sort of payback would be good, like 100% back on payment made in past 1 year, 90% back on payment made 2 years ago, etc. Some sort of sliding scale. Is there a reason why this is not talked about?

Can’t wait to see him get dismantled on the debate stage.

He look awful here with questions he should have been much better prepared for.

This kind of thing always makes me think of one of the tactics the US would use to steal Indian land - buy off the Chief. What incentives are the union brass getting behind the scenes?

As pro-union as I am, you have to be sceptical of unions big enough that the top reps go to negotiations in the same limos the bosses do. At that stage, the extent their interests align with their members’ is a function of how accountable they are to their members. And the iron law of institutions will tell you they have every incentive to minimise that accountability.

Big-ass unions are OK, I guess, for sector-wide negotiations and agreements. IME they do very little, if anything, for local small-ball issues and disputes. I’ve helped several people lodge complaints about inaction by one of the big-deal unions here (of which my grandfather was once a prominent high-level member). Very unimpressed. Ideally, big unions wouldn’t preclude small, org-specific unions, but a second set of dues is a very tough sell to the average person.
