MoCo is very weird in that it’s super rich but also very Democratic and ethnically diverse. .
This convo has sent me on a trip down memory lane. The Huntington Metro in North Virginia are where I once lived for a short while looks like it got gentrified as fuck. That Latin bakery is gone, my favorite Peruvian chicken place is now a generic El Pollo Campero fast food chain place, the Bosnian hamburger joint is still there but it looks like they scrubbed and polished every square inch of that place and are now billing themselves as “Mediterranean”. There’s a Jimmy Johns and a Panda Express. bleh.
Congrats on deciding to phonebank/text. I think you’ll find it very rewarding. I did both in 2016 and have done a ton of texting for other campaigns in the years since. It’s very satisfying to see immediate results, especially on voting days. When people who have never voted ask where their polling station is and then thank you for pushing them to actually go vote you can see the individual impact you are having.
I’m feeling a bit hopeful right now as well, but then again I felt a lot of that in 2016 around NH time. So I guess I’m cautiously hopeful.
I genuinely think the gop thinks this is true. They really aren’t that smart though.
I would genuinely prefer Bloomberg to Biden. If you have to go with an establishment type I’d rather get the actual boss out front instead of one of his lesser minions. Would prefer him to Pete as well ldo. Would prefer Steyer to Bloomberg because he’s more liberal.
“Top of the ticket” makes it sound like the weasels are planning to try to get Bernie to drop out at some point and take the VP slot. I don’t think this is the first time I’ve seen this in the last week or so.
VP Bernie makes absolutely no sense. He’s a fucking Senator. Never ever give up real power for a largely ceremonial job ffs. Would be very tilted with Warren as VP as well. Absolutely no guarantee they replace you with a progressive.
Also I just read that article and it sure reads like fear to me. The guy should be afraid. If either Bernie or Warren win the nomination his career in politics is probably all but over.
The anti-war angle needs to be prominently emphasized over and over again, It’s one of Bernie’s biggest selling points. Sanders/Lee 2020 imo --if you had to look up who Lee is then you’re a fucking casual politics fan.
