We’ve had 4 people go down with covid infections (all minor) in my physician group in the past 1.5 months. I’m getting a booster tyvm.

Because the vaccine wears off?

It’s the second day of school in NYC. My kids’ school did their first random testing and found at least one positive result. So some class will have to quarantine for 10 days after only two days of school.

Things going smoothly so far!

Jeez, imagine if the testing was comprehensive.

And it’s not even a random sample of the entire population. Parents have to give permission for their children to be in the testing pool.

The schedule for Hep B is 2nd shot at 1-2 months and 3rd shot at 4-6 months. Then you’re good for 10 years.

Got my Pfizer booster yesterday. Very convenient process, booked an online appointment through the CVS website. In and out in 10 minutes, plus the 15 they made me wait to make sure I didn’t pass out or die. Sore arm only so far, same as previous doses.

Do they? Surprised they arent doing daily rapid tests and can stay in school if asymptomatic.

Here’s the policy

  • Elementary Schools: In the event there is a positive case in a classroom, all students in the class will be instructed to quarantine for 10 calendar days. Students will continue to receive live remote instruction while they quarantine.

I just checked the stats, and 80 classrooms across the city were closed yesterday due to positive tests on the first day of school.

Here the schools have moved to “test to stay” where classrooms arent auto quarantined with cases, instead kids rapid test to start the day if no symptoms and can stay if negative. They are really trying to dump remote schooling as much as possible.

I’d imagine a Jim Breuer comedy show is just 25 minutes of him telling lame jokes with no laughs while the audience gets increasingly frustrated and the yells of “do Goat Boy!” get louder and louder. Then he gets to Goat Boy and it’s amusing for approximately 33 seconds then everyone leaves disappointed.

As someone who has been to a Jim Breuer show I can say this is pretty spot on

I think it might say something that right-wing comedy generally isn’t funny, even to right-wingers. Comedy is about being subversive and sometimes speaking truth to power.

Right-wing ethos fits much better basically pop country songs. IE - regressively pandering to people frightened by the big scary world, longing for a simpler time that never existed. Comedy just isn’t any of that.

Laughter is in involuntary reaction, which comedy often triggers by hitting on some universal truth. Maybe there’s just too much truth in comedy, even for right wingers. Which means deep down most of them kinda know they’re full of shit.

Punching up is funny, punching down is cruel. Deplorables think punching down is funny. Because they think cruelty is funny.

A huge amount of stand up is also making fun of yourself. Right wingers do not like to do this.

He was brought in to perform for the big homecoming celebration my undergrad school put on while I was there. This is a shockingly accurate description of how the set went.

Punching down at deplorables is funny.

Yes, but even with that effect deplorables don’t seem to be able to crack other deplorables up very well.
