In addition to mandating vaccines for federal workers, Biden will also require vaccination for over 17 million health care workers who work at facilities that receive federal funding. The administration had previously required vaccination for all staff of federally funded nursing homes. The new requirements will extend vaccine mandates to hospitals, dialysis facilities, ambulatory surgical settings, and home health agenciesâmost facilities that receive Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements.

Not strictly COVID related but whatever: some very good results from an injectable mRNA therapy for solid tumour cancers. The mRNA codes for various cytokines.
The researchers injected the mRNA mixture into colon and melanoma tumors in 20 mice. The treatment halted tumor growth, and caused a complete regression of the cancer in 17 of the animals, they reported.
They then combined the mRNA cocktail with anti-CTLA-4 or anti-PD-1 checkpoint inhibitors. That strengthened the anti-tumor effects, as well as the tumor regression.
Beginning phase 1 human trials now. Paper in Science/Translational Medicine.

I went to my buddyâs dadâs viewing tonight. He just died of covid. He got the first dose of the vaccine but never went back for the second dose. They asked for everyone to wear a mask. My buddy (whoâs a PA) and his family masked up, buddyâs mom masked up, most others masked up. Deplorable daughter of deceased, her husband and family, and some other randos, proudly unmasked standing there by her dad who just died of covid. If you think this thing hitting them personally is going to change their mind youâre dreaming.
