These people drop $$ all the time at these casinos and keeping their customers alive is going to ruin the brand.

Natural immunity is as effective or more effective than vaccines

seen this from multiple pros

where the **** did this garbage come from (k, this is rhetorical I don’t care) god these people man

safe and effective of course (not behind paywall this time)

Kinda amazing you can be good at logical deduction and still a trumper and right int psycho

They tend to be a lot better with exploiting others in logical people deduction, which is an element of poker. It’s a different skill than logical deduction.

Foxen is the two-time GPI POTY and Bicknell is the three-time GPI Female POTY. I think Foxen gets mentioned when people talk about the best tournament players, at least for NL. Amusingly, he has zero WSOP bracelets, while Bicknell has three.

Cousins aren’t a big loss. I barely talk to any of mine and I’m content.

Was a weird teacher’s meeting today. Every teacher packed into a single room. No distancing with 2 teachers (myself included) wearing masks. And honestly, I didn’t think to wear it until I was already in the room.

There was one teacher in the back coughing a bit. Makes me wonder if he/she has covid. It’d be such a lol moment for school to get shut down before it even starts.

If you mean the immunity occurring naturally from a prior infection, there was an article in Science yesterday talking about this:
https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2021/08/having-sars-cov-2-once-confers-much-greater-immunity-vaccine-no-infection-parties

It’s based on a preprint that uses Israeli data.

It’s hard for me to get mad at people relying on Science as a source. Whether Science should be publishing stories based on this preprint is another question.

Now, if you mean the more general statement “A healthy body provides better defense against COVID than a vaccine”, then I’ve got nothing for you.

I thought this already happened?

so a study that shows vaccinated + having alpha is better than not being vaccinated and having covid previously and they print this as the headline and it’s called a science magazine???

god these people are f’ing morons

It seems like they are making a distinction between first reported deer with “infections” versus “antibodies”, as this very article mentions the cases reported by USDA in 3 or 4 other states that was written up in Smithsonian Magazine (IIRC).

K-hole is pretty fun. I like that it’s super short and doesn’t go on and on long after you just want to get off the ride.

I’m not reading the preprint, but the first paragraph of the Science story sounds different from what you’re saying:

The natural immune protection that develops after a SARS-CoV-2 infection offers considerably more of a shield against the Delta variant of the pandemic coronavirus than two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to a large Israeli study that some scientists wish came with a “Don’t try this at home” label. The newly released data show people who once had a SARS-CoV-2 infection were much less likely than vaccinated people to get Delta, develop symptoms from it, or become hospitalized with serious COVID-19.

My interpretation is that they’re comparing two groups:

  • vaccinated people who had not been previously infected
  • previously-infected people who were not vaccinated.

Edit: I ended up looking in the pre-print, and that seems to be an accurate summary. In Model 1 of the pre-print, they definitely claim to be comparing those two groups:

In model 1, we examined natural immunity and vaccine-induced immunity by comparing the likelihood of SARS-CoV-2-related outcomes between previously infected individuals who have never been vaccinated and fully vaccinated SARS-CoV-2-naĂŻve individuals.

And the results do indeed imply that prior infection provides a better defense than the vaccines:

After adjusting for comorbidities, we found a statistically significant 13.06-fold (95% CI, 8.08 to 21.11) increased risk for breakthrough infection as opposed to reinfection ( P <0.001).

So I think the Science summary seems to accurately capture what the preprint is claiming. (Again, no idea if the preprint is correct.)

So those people are tripping balls the whole time they’re intubated?

Your wife got slipped a mickey. No one enjoys tripping unless they willingly go into it, and then not all the time.

Seems like a shitton of poker pros are getting their bubbles popped today that they’re on the wrong side of history and not everyone is thirdway quack science Rogan bro.

I said prior PLUS the vaccine > prior according to that study

It’s a disaster to print what they did as the headline and that sentence that prior > vaccine unless they want people to not get the vaccine.

I spouted off twice in that thread, then unsubscribed. LMK if anything interesting happens other than 800 anti-vaxx dipshits losing their minds.
