I hope this doesnāt come off as argumentative, but I think thereās some major miscommunication here. Iām just not sure what the source of that miscommunicatin is. The Science headline says natural immunity (via prior COVID infection only, not with vaccination) confers better protection than getting vaccinated. Thatās what the preprint says in Model 1. So I donāt see how Science is mispresenting the preprintās results.
Of course that headline might influence people not to get vaccinated. But if the underlying research is actually correct, and natural immunity (without vaccination) does confer protection than vaccination, then Iām not sure what the solution is.
The solution is not making it the headline. but yeah vaccination with or without natural immunity is significantly better wonāt get the clicks or anti vaxers loving hearing it so here we are.

No ketamine can be used for the actual intubation. We use fentanyl, propofol, and/or precedex to keep you sedated while you have the breathing tube in.
Ketamine is the only true out of body experience Iāve ever had. All I knew was that everything Iād ever taken for granted about reality had changed. I was only the vaguest bit aware that I was tethered to a body that I probably didnāt want to shit its pants.
I was sailing over landscapes except they looked like circuit boards, all lit up at night. For some reason we landed the stereo on opera music before we became catatonic - which turned out to be amazing.
At one point I became convinced I was being watched by some panel of elders and if I figured out the puzzle that is reality, all of humanity would get to go on to the next level, like a video game. I distinctly remember the deflating moment when I started to come down and realized there was no panel of elders in my brain monitoring my thoughts, just me.
If you guys are doing this to patients that would be wild. I always wonder if cats are changed once they come back from tripping balls.

So the reason to use ketamine for quick procedures is it is a respiratory stimulant. Propofol can not only tank your blood pressure but some people just stop breathing. That makes my job much more entertaining, but it generally isnāt great for the patient.

Most people donāt remember anything when they get a sedation level dose of ketamine. But for those special few who are going to go on a ketamine trip I bullshit with them about their favorite vacation as they are going out. They typically have a great trip rather than a scary one when they go under thinking about good stuff. I had a young teen who we gave ketamine to for a shoulder reduction talking about her trip to Disney world before she passed out. When she woke up she said she was back there having a great time the whole the docs were wrenching on her arm.

Nah theyāre just tripping balls when I shove a piece of plastic down their throat followed by a plastic tube. It has some properties that are thought to be beneficial such as bronchodilation and preservation of blood pressure (the latter is a bit controversial but whatever). I use etomidate more often.
So is the new republican talking point that natural immunity trumps all and we should be having Covid parties? Any good science on immunity from getting cvoid vs vaccine?
thereās clear benefit to being vaccinated even if youāve been infected.
The question of whether or not active disease is about the same or even better immunity wise than the vaccine is irrelevant because it involves getting covid.

I think I understand your point now. Regardless of whether you already had covid or not, getting the vaccine gives you greater protection than not getting it. And you think that should have been at least as prominent as the message in the headline?
Seems like a fair critique.
When Iām not feeling well I always head out to the local weed and feed. Then a quick stop at the tropical fish emporium and Iām like brand new.

Thatās good. Suggestion is very important. My friend said her whole trip was jungle vines and being out in nature, until I blurted out āIām a computerā at some point, which changed her whole trip to computer stuff.
