COVID-19: Chapter 9 - OMGicron

I don’t know what the answer to this is, but I’d assume most if not all vaccines have some negative reaction. Of course the equation is vaccine <<<< virus in terms of danger. The more nasty the virus the more time pressure and the more tolerance for a bit higher side effects.

Yeah, like as I outline above, there are universes in which it could have been true that the spike protein is harmful. If you want to be assured that that’s just theoretically impossible, then sorry, it isn’t. But going back to the alcohol example, it’s a fact that alcohol is toxic under some circumstances and capable of killing you. How would you convince someone that it’s safe to have a couple of beers if they refuse to accept the argument “experimental and observational evidence makes it very clear that it’s not a big deal ingested in that amount”? It can’t be done.

You may want to stop what you’re doing and watch the first episode of NYC Epicenters 9/11 → 2021 1/2, a new Spike Lee documentary on HBO

I think I might need a bit of explanation to truly appreciate that. Just want to be sure it is as ridiculous as it sounds.

Yeah they’re protesting dying people being put on ventilators, which is only done nowadays as a last ditch effort.

OK, so what is the proposed alternative? Just let them die without puttiing them on a vent?

See the people who aren’t put on a vent live. Just don’t put them on a vent, don’t you see?

Glad I asked. That was even dumber than I thought.

That’s true - the link I was drawing between circulation of the antigen and myocarditis was speculation, which I should have been clearer about. Reading about it, it seems that it’s a consequence of a more general, systemic inflammatory response. I don’t think the details are understood. This makes it even less likely that the circulating S1 is actually doing anything at all.

I’m not an expert and don’t guarantee that all of the post is 100% correct in every detail, but the broad strokes of it are right.

Edit, also this was my source for a lot of what I wrote

https://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/archives/2021/06/15/the-novavax-vaccine-data-and-spike-proteins-in-general

This guy tends to write a bit technically so I tried to strip some jargon out.

If I were a doctor I would simply not put my patients on vents and cure them by other means.

Myocarditis is almost certainly an autoimmune issue caused by cross reactivity of the immune reaction to the spike protein

Our government requires a negative test to enter the US, even among vaccinated people. Silly us, thinking getting a test at a pharmacy was good enough. Apparently it’s not, and now we’re fighting the clock to get a result back before our flight boards. Amazing.

Update: made it, 5 minutes to spare. That was not fun.

A test at a pharmacy was not good enough? Why not and what airline?

Yea, I admit to not reading the fine print of the CDC memo that closely but was very surprised (and pissed) to learn that. Maybe it was in the memo and I missed it. We were being checked in by Lufthansa (Barcelona → Frankfurt) ahead of a United flight from Frankfurt to USA. They wouldn’t even check us in or take our checked bags without proof of the negative test. Things got a little panicky, not gonna lie. We got results got checked in like 35 minutes before the flight was scheduled to depart.

So, uh, note to everyone traveling to the United States–don’t rely on a pharmacy test.

SOCIALIST DEATH PANELS!!!

So we’re about to repeat the Sturgis surge across the Midwest same as last year? Just fucking great.
