COVID-19: Chapter 9 - OMGicron

Based on nothing I’m hoping we get a year per booster.

No clue based on any evidence. Just hoping.

Moderna here so in a holding pattern.

Thanks. I’m fine it just feels like a bad cold with some staying power. Had to go to a funeral last Thursday, and started feeling sick on Monday I believe. Seemed like a cold because I haven’t lost taste or smell, have no fever, and 02 levels are normal, but then I got word that several other people at the funeral have tested positive so most likely I have it. Just staying home and mostly keeping to myself in the house.

I have the same thing. It might just be a cold.

My symptoms started Sunday. Got my PCR test on Wednesday and it came back negative.

Yeah I was betting on a cold until other people at the funeral reported similar symptoms and tested positive. Luckily everyone I’m aware of so far is fully vaccinated.

Why not both?

I’m just a hair past six months from my second shot. 48 years old, no underlying conditions, do not work in high risk setting. Technically overweight I suppose, but I don’t think I’m obese. Am planning on traveling for Thanksgiving. How immoral is it for me to get the booster?

Wait, wat?

IIRC, you have just about have the cleanest diet I’ve ever heard of and you exercise regularly. How the fuck are you overweight?

I mean unless demand in your area is batshit crazy you’re not taking a dose from someone else, so I don’t think “morality” factors into it at all. I’m 50 and in largely the same boat as you and I’m probably gonna schedule mine in the next week or so.

People pretend it is a known vs an unknown instead of two unknowns where the knowns are much better for vaccines than Covid.

They can pretend they are being thoughtful and considered but instead are failing every step of logic. They are making horrible life decisions based on hating other human beings. We are doomed.

Not immoral at all.

It isn’t. Get it.

I’m 36 and you bet your ass I’m getting it when I’m eligible to.

Haha almost sounds like you have multiple girlfriends. (No shaming)

I hold being 48 responsible. I’m in excellent shape, but am 6’2"ish and around 225 right now, so according to the NIH I’m overweight.

You and I are the same, except I’m a year younger. I got booster’d and had no moral quandary about it.

ETA: I’m much fatter than you. But I’d still get it if I were you. If you need a reason, you’re less likely to take up a hospital bed. That’s enough reason, I think.

If you’re really 225, then I’d agree you’re overweight. I can’t see how you maintain that weight eating salads and running every day. Those must be some huge fucking salads.

I think there are valid moral concerns for policy makers about whether it makes sense to give boosters to the first world while places like Haiti are still waiting on round one. Having said that, these kinds of calls are way above my pay grade and I can’t fault any individual for getting a booster, esp since we’ve got an oversupply in the US with MAGA chuds not getting vaxxed and the supplies are just going to waste if no one gets them.
