It’s not the malaria thread
PCR test came back negative
So I guess I just have a cold after all. If only the symptoms would respond to cold medicine that’d be great.
Nice to know that I don’t have to call people to tell them to get tested for covid.
Interesting how you didn’t like it
About f’ing time, Jesus.
So should people be trying to get booster shots when they hit 6 months after the second Pfizer shot? I was really looking forward to being done with all of this but I guess not.
I’ve heard it’s more like 8-9 mo or so (jury is still out on this), but I think for sure boosters are in everyone’s future. Good news is you can get the flu add-on content for free while you’re getting the booster shot. Some future variant that breaks through the vaccines is the big X factor.
my gf, the teacher, just scheduled her booster shot. makes me feel better she’ll be better protected.
Who is eligible for boosters right now? I thought it was 65+ and people with underlying conditions only?
life is an underlying condition
Exposure through work counts too
Anyone who had Pfizer six months plus ago and is willing to check the box saying they are eligible can get a booster.
Underlying condition is super broad and most Americans technically qualify for obesity.
I really dont think there are ethics issues from individuals getting a booster regardless right now. My question is more whether it turns out optimal to do it after 6 months or 12 or w/e. Seems pretty likely we are all getting one and dose more likely to go bad than get sent elsewhere.
Folks who work in certain jobs with a “high risk of exposure” are also eligible. It includes things like certain healthcare settings, correctional facilities, schools, etc.

New study shows pfizer booster is extremely effective.

I’m at 5 months now since 2nd dose, so I guess I’ll just hold tight and see what other info becomes available as I reach 6/7 months. I think I have covid right now though, (waiting for PCR results and can’t find any rapid test kits near me), so I’ll probably be pretty bullet proof anyway.
what does that entail? like bartenders and restaurant workers qualify?
Ugh, hang in there. Rather not get it obviously, but not the worst time to be exposed since still pretty close to second dose.
Thats my plan too. I have Moderna so still in a holding pattern anyways. My wife got Pfizer and is probably planning to get a booster at six months and we are encouraging all of our parents and elderly relatives to get one before the winter if they had Pfizer.
Finally found rapid test kits online at CVS the other day so ordered the max six. Obviously wont help for this time, but probably worth it to check and stock up. Had to go the PCR route for a kid recently because trying to find a rapid time slot or test kit was pretty hard around here.
IANAD, but what ive seen from doctors suggests that it is very possible/good reason to think it is supposed to be a 3 shot vaccine and the third one will be more durable. We probably wont know until we are into Q1/Q2 2022.
probably can’t apply this broadly to all vaccines, but there are many that have third and fourth boosters where resistance is greater.
