It seems pretty unlikely that a hostess at a fancy upper west side restaurant is a huge racist who uses the n-word and assaults groups of black customers unprovoked.
āInjuries were caused by other staffers restraining her and not by usā is transparent bullshit, contradicted by the video (and witnesses) and calls the whole rest of their story into question.
Also seems pretty disappointing that local BLM activists reflexively jump in and take the side of the tourists and declare them innocent.
I get all that, but on the other hand they apparently were vaxxed, had cards, and were already seated before the shitshow started. That seems very weird.
I havenāt seen the video myself, though. Maybe Iāll have a look at it.

There are definitely a lot of unanswered questions. For example:
- If the customers were already seated indoors, why did the physical altercation take place outside at the hostess stand?
- The lawyer ādenied that his clients had tried to āforcefully violateā the requirement that they show [proof of vaccination]ā. Unclear exactly what this means, but if they were already seated inside (and Iām skeptical), it seems likely they slipped in, perhaps seated themselves, and had not yet shown anybody their vax cards. So itās obviously reasonable if theyāre subsequently asked to show them, rather than āarbitrary and unjustifiableā.
- Why is the police report so different from the account of the tourists? Obviously the police account is not necessarily accurate, but presumably itās based on more than just hearing one side. Their story is very straightforward. Tourists were asked on the way in for vax proof. They refused and became irate. Hostess offered to seat them outside instead. Violence ensued.
You asked who the favorite was, and unless further info becomes available, I know which way Iām leaning. Maybe most informative would be any footage from the restaurant security cameras.
