Among the people, it was the arrogance of dominating the first wave that led to disregarding the warnings of the second one. Of course, the government playing it down for political gain helped make it worse.
Also rural people here are fucking stupid. The current cases per 100,000 over the last 7 days in the CR is 669.3. Prague is actually below that at 613.01 when a month ago it was the most infected area in the country. That’s because there’s widespread compliance with the measures whereas backwater idiots are congregating at each other’s houses to drink without masks because bars are closed.
Prague isn’t 100% perfect though. Places throughout the country are opening on the DL including Prague. It’s like prohibition. For every place like this, there’s others that are running underground without being shut down.
Basically, it’s a police body camera recording of shutting down a hidden bar with 35 maskless people in it violating all of the codes in place(35 people ain’t shit in Prague though). Language is all Czech. So, you won’t get much out of anything being spoken.
Sounds very similar to the problems here in my part of Canada.

Yeah cities are likely to face more scrutiny as they have a reputation of being vectors during pandemics. We had compliance officers going into bars and cafes when they were open and writing up fines for violations. That ain’t going on in villages with 400 people in them.
I live in Manitoba, population ~1 million. We were down to 1 active case in July or so, now have had 70-150 a day for about 2 weeks straight. Masks mandated, bars shutdown. People have just let their guard down with how well it went at first.
Belgium has a 7 day moving average of 10,268 new cases, and that is before todays record total is figured in. When adjusted for population if Belgium was the US we would have 308,000 new cases.
The total for world new cases yesterday was 479,000. Sometime this winter I think the US alone will surpass that number. Alarm bells should be ringing all over the world right now but outside of my liberal bubble all I hear in the US is a chorus of opening back up.
Just friggin surreal man.

There is about to be a massive country-wide superspreader event in 11 days.
And, the kicker is that the places that will have the most in person voting will be those that think COVID-19 is a hoax.
Buckle up. It is up to us to protect ourselves and our families. It is time to hunker down.
Hopefully the election isn’t a super spreader event, there should be mask mandates in polling places in quite a few parts of the country. I’m fairly confident in my safety going in with either an N95 or P100.
You should be totally fine. Healthcare workers do that all day long. But most people are not rocking N95s. They will mostly still be fine with surgical masks and the like, provided they actually wear them over their face and nose, which is no sure thing.

It doesn’t have to be a superspreader event everywhere or for everyone. But those areas that are lax are going to have halloween parties, then a three day incubation followed by maskless hoards at polling places.
Daylight savings on Nov 1 won’t help either.
Our late dog Sid hated the fall time change. He was very time oriented and when we would tell him it’s not time yet he would get irate. We would try and do 15 minutes a day.
And when I say clock, he got medicine in a pill pocket at 9pm. He could be dead asleep and at 9:00 on the dot he would wake up and woof at us.
He would offer back with “I can pee here On the carpet next to the bed or outside. It’s your choice bub”.
Of course he has no problems with the spring time change.

You will be fine. The 40% of the population that is rabidly pro-Trump that think masks are for pussies (who are also going to be predominantly the ones to go vote in person) are going to turn huge swaths of the country into a giant rally.

I read a pretty disturbing article on how even younger people who have mild symptoms and recover quickly are showing up months later having heart attacks or some other problems with organs, etc. I’m not sure how thoroughly it’s been discussed ITT, but I’m convinced this is a weapons grade virus created in a lab. I’m not saying it was intentionally unleashed, but Occam’s razor tells me this is not a natural evolutionary event. This was bred to be asymptomatic for up to 2 weeks so as to infect large populations. I’m normally not a conspiracy theorist, but am surprised no one is talking more about this.
Also, just found out a co-worker tested positive, so now I’m going to have to get tested tomorrow. Already cancelled my Friday night plans. Living through a pandemic of this magnitude sucks…
