I wonder how bad the outbreak there was? Spearmint Rhino was the place that made me swear off strip clubs in my early years of vegas trips. Long story short I went on the first night of Super Bowl weekend the year the Saints won. I forgot my wallet was in my inside jacket pocket. I got a lap dance and shortly thereafter realized I had no wallet. I went to the security guy and it’s dark and I was drunk and so no other than the basics I can’t describe the stripper. He went to the back for a long time. Those 15 minutes I was sitting there thinking how fucked I was with no money, no atm card, no cash, no credit cards, no drivers license.
He came back with my wallet which was of course empty of cash but everything else was there. I took out as much money as I could, canceled all my cards and was thankful that was the extent of it. I ended up winning a ton on Saints ML so ended up way ahead even with the missing $$$.
Multiple times in Vegas I’ve been very drunk trying to cash out a lot of chips and the guy tries to short me. I don’t know what it is about that place - I love it more than anywhere in the world, but it is such a magnet for scumbags trying to get one over on someone else.
I remember being a young dumb kid, maybe 19, flush with poker boom cash and had like 900 dollars in my wallet and it was pick pocketed from me AT THE POKER TABLE I didn’t leave for several hours.
Haha on my bachelor party one of my friends went missing at the spearmint rhino. Came back to the hotel at 6am and found him black out drunk with three sex workers in our hotel room. Was kind of gross that I slept in one of those beds now that I think about it.
Lol your night sounds like more fun. Strip clubs are gross. I’m all about the sex industry but those in particular never really appealed to me. I’ve never even been inside one. Well, that I can remember anyway. There have been lots of blackouts in vegas.
I’m seeing horror stories about Vegas during Labor Day weekend on Twitter. I’d consider the Orleans or Red Rock for 2/5 passing through. Never been to Red Rock, but I know there is an entrance right by the Orleans poker room. More locals, who are presumably taking things more seriously than tourists flying in on cheap tickets.
Arenthese posts real? Why would you play poker for recreation right now? Why would you do so after spending time indoors at a Kansas BJs?
I thought this was the place where people took covid seriously. I’ve been max quarantine for 5 months in Vegas and Im not hot about my risk increasing because out of town unstuckers had to play poker
An update on estimated recent CFR. It seems to be pretty steady in the 1.5% range (7-day average deaths divided by 7-day average new cases from either 21 or 28 days ago):
That’s still more than a 9/11 per week, which is terrible, but at least it isn’t moving higher. Locally, I’ve been paying attention to Franklin County, OH (home of Ohio State), since Franklin County numbers are going to be a big factor in when/how our K-12 public schools open.
Recent increase in the last two weeks is just a coincidence, I’m sure.
As a bit of background, Steven is a big shot pops orchestra conductor (Kennedy Center, Toronto, and Houston, currently) who also happened to be the student teacher when I was a freshman in high school band.
(Sorry you missed out, but if I had it to do all over again I still wouldn’t have gone to the Rhino - it would have just been me and Cha at the Nugget.)
