COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

He learned to say “I feel threatened” and then you can just do whatever the hell you want because Florida.

It’s a perfect example of the bad-faith smarmy punk BS that basically embodies right-wingers these days.

It’s slamming people who want to talk about cancel culture as a real thing that we should be worried about and spend time on. Basically the star pupils on @lovemuffin 's wonderful forum experiment.

They’re having long, serious, ongoing, endless, tedious debates about the just how far out of control the left is right now - because some horrible racist white people had to face a consequence for borderline criminal behavior. I mean if we allow that it’s a slippery slope to all manner of fedora guys getting busted for weed or their pedophile anime collection, and other horrors.

The good news at least we should know in two weeks. If there is no surge in deaths in San Antonio in two weeks then something really is different this time. I don’t expect that to be the case at all. Not if ventilator usage is also shooting up.

It seems unlikely they would game death stats but not these other stats. So while they might be putting their thumb on the scale on all stats (but San Antonio is fairly liberal, so maybe not), we should in theory see deaths in a couple weeks. I would think.

I just had cataract surgery last week, although here in NH the R<O.

Nah, people were pretty certain it’d be a two week lag like we saw in NY/NJ and other places.

“Yes, people are dying, but think of the racists who have to deal with mean people on the internet.”

Fuck off. JFC

The apocalypse is better when it’s just a movie.

That’s is exactly what I do based on when I can find a strong correlation between today’s and some days positives 7-14 days ago. Sadly the has been little stability and it varies a lot by state. The hot states are running something like positives 9 days ago x 2%.

I have avoided doing a state by state model so far for my own sanity. I get very obsessed and very cranky which makes Danny and a not very fun person to be around.

Today probably was a bit of an outlier, the Tuesday after a three day holiday weekend.

This happens in Temecula most years.

So it’s not the end of the world? That’s good, maybe. I’m not so sure. But mostly probably good.

My wife went to pass out supplies for school today. She had an 85 year old grandma come and tell her that her grandson will not be wearing a mask (it’s required). Her reason wasn’t that COVID isn’t real and isn’t a significant danger, but that we should just let people die so we can get all be safe sooner. I mean I don’t agree obviously but what a fucking psycho grandma.
