COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

6x their prior case rate, and at 4/1000 positive 14 day sum, they are approaching FL/AZ levels from July.

They will wise up. Eventually.

Nancy Pelosi is rich. She’s not accustomed to having her personal choices challenged, except by political opponents whose criticism is dismissed out of hand.

Pelosi is such idiot. We have hundreds of thousands of people dying and are 2 months out from the most important election ever. Not the time to be giving Republicans cannon fodder you useless dinosaur. I will celebrate the day she no longer holds any power, but hopefully that won’t be due to Republicans winning back the house.

The Chief Hygenist of the Czech Republic (basically the person most responsible for implementing covid mitigation and prevention policies on the ground) has tested positive for covid19. The Minister of Health was in recent contact with her when she was without a mask and is in preventative quarantine. Since his staff was in contact with him, they’re also in quarantine.

The rest of the hygiene department in Prague is working from quarantine. Of course this comes at a time when the pandemic is the worst it has ever been in Prague.

incredible San Francisco keeps electing Pelosi over and over again

The power of political machines and incumbency.

Incredible that the Dem party keeps making her a party leader over and over again.

Props to Bob for linking it, but he massively understated the relevance of the article and didn’t give much of a reason to click on the link. A simple hypothesis behind the molecular method of action of covid-19 is a fantastic development, even if it turns out to be wrong. Given that there are already approved drugs that are already known to inhibit this pathway in one way or another, it should be very straightforward to do trials on all of them in a rigorous fashion and see what works. Honestly, I’d never heard of bradykinin before reading it, so I can’t really comment on the science, but novel, plausible, and testable hypotheses are how we move forward, and this work just spat out a whole bunch of them.

If I want to alienate myself from my family, I think I’m going to use this same logic with respect to abortion. Oh, that’s not murder, it was the underlying condition of being a fetus that actually caused the death, not the doctor.

Yes

The fetus had a pre-existing condition called - not being viable w/o constant life-support from its mother.

Both CA and AZ use Cases/100,000 as the main benchmark for assessing community spread and preparing for re-opening:

CA
================
<1      Minimal
1-3.9   Moderate
4-7     Substantial
>7      Widespread

AZ
================
<10     Minimal
10-100  Moderate
>100    Substantial

These scales are so wildly different that a “widespread” county in CA with 8/100k would qualify as “minimal” in AZ. Maybe I’m missing something but this seems absurd and dangerous.

You’re correct.

Is this cases per day?

If I had to use something I’d put the 14 day sum at or below 1/1,000 or 100/100,000.
100/14=~7 per day.

% positive has to play a role as well. If the case load is low, but its over 10% positive then its Widespread unless/until further testing proves otherwise.

You posted the CA graphic a few days ago and I thought that all seemed pretty reasonable and just assumed other states would have something in the same ballpark. So when I saw the AZ tiers on the news this morning → :thinking: :rage: :exploding_head:

Democrats absolutely need to use this as an opportunity to force Pelosi to step down as speaker. What an absolute disgrace

Pelosi sucks, has sucked, and will likely suck in perpetuity. I’m tired of this country being run by dinosaurs whose integrity and common sense have both gone extinct.

B-but she ripped up the SOTU speech right there in front of Trump!

Good question, I think it might actually be weekly, which would bring the tier criteria at least into the realm of sanity. I can’t tell for sure because the referred-to “ADHS Business Operations Dashboard” does not seem to exist. :man_shrugging:
