COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

“The joke I heard that’s probably the most prevalent is: What do you get when you mix politics and medical advice? Politics,” a Power 5 athletic director said.

In no shocker, colleges who care about money more than their students find what they want to hear to make more money

These places are in the football business, education is a side hustle.

So I assume you’ve been to campus corner and minellas.

LOTS of times at campus corner getting the daily special. Minellas was usually more of a “parents are visiting, let’s go to breakfast” kind of place. Couldn’t easily stumble there while drunk. My favorite was BYOB at Fellinis in Ardmore though.

tbf the temp check stuff is normally done with super unreliable equipment. Still though.

We’ve been to the one in Berwyn. Regulars at the corner and live two blocks from Min.

I emailed him and he agreed to remote interview and said we could figure out work conditions if I move forward.

I made it clear I won’t go into an office to work for the foreseeable future, but I’m sure I’ll still lose points compared to candidates who do go in for the interview and will work in office from day one.

Fwiw, the job I’m currently at also asked me to come into the place of business for my second interview and I declined, noting I would not be comfortable coming in until this is all over. They agreed to an online interview and I have the job now. Good luck

Thread is dead today. Guess Trump was right and it just went away.

Yeah we are far enough in this that it seems like you get at least 3 months immunity from it

In early September we can hopefully say it’s 4 months, etc.

Never know, maybe it’s a test. Potentially the company’s policy is one way, but the hiring manager feels different

I love this line though:

People who have tested positive for COVID-19 do not need to quarantine or get tested again for up to 3 months as long as they do not develop symptoms again. People who develop symptoms again within 3 months of their first bout of COVID-19 may need to be tested again if there is no other cause identified for their symptoms.

Oh, so I’m safe unless I develop symptoms. Then I should get tested. Thanks CDC! Just kicking ass all the way through this thing.

I was able to catch up the SDI scorecard to Tuesday, and as expected, nothing has changed. SDI continues to trend down slightly nearly everywhere. As of Tuesday, we’re down to only 14 of 52 measured places that have fewer than 4 weeks in a row below their target SDI. The only one that has never fallen below its target SDI is D.C.

Of all the places in the country, it looks like Indiana is doing the worst. Its numbers suggest mask usage sucks. Nearly every place is getting some kind of benefit despite being below its target SDI. Indiana is a notable exception to this rule, despite not being much below its target.

All these places are now 3 weeks in a row below their target SDI:

Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Delaware, Vermont, Louisiana, Virginia, Idaho, and Montana

Kansas is now at 2 weeks below its target SDI.

Everyone else is 5+ weeks below their target SDI. Brace yourselves.

Here is the link to the updated graphs that also includes every major updated county graph:

I think they’ve determined you’re not going to catch it again for 3 months. Unless you do.

Hah. No social distancing there. Can’t imagine it’s legal how many people they pile into that small space- Svengoolie?

I’m very glad someone got this reference. Also, Sven has definitely been doing social distancing on his show.

Holy crap. After the real playoffs had started. #1 goalie on one of the top teams.
