COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

For those interested, Steven Millman, the DC data modeler that I repost here, had his data presented on CNBC this morning regarding testing turnaround rates:

Not super interesting, but does show the difference in testing turnaround times nationwide.

Also here at the :55 mark:

For comparison, I got tested at the same site a little over a month ago, and then they told me 3-5 said and it took 5 days. A month before that my mom got tested at the same site and I think got results in 2 days.

I mean takes 10 days in ca too.

Depends on where you go and whether or not you’re positive. My dad and sister got confirmation they were positive in 2 days, my apartment got confirmed negative in 5.

Yeah we’re mostly all shithole states now.

Turns out collecting premiums while people are avoiding hospitals at all costs is wildly profitable.

Do not blame the college for collecting large numbers of 18 year olds in one place, nobody could have predicted that drunk horny teenagers wouldn’t follow the rules.

Lol states edging closer to shutting down borders :eyes:

I tested negative on the antigen test. They just had me wait 10-15 minutes in the parking lot for results. So I guess now I went from unlikely to have covid to very unlikely to have covid.

Glad to see my Alma mater making me proud

Ugh, second round interview for Monday just emailed asking me to come into the office.

I had just assumed it would be remote during the pandemic even tho it’s a local company. Now I have to decline in-person and ask for video interview and let them know I’m not going into the office until it’s safe, so that probably means I’ll be out of the running.

Went to pick up materials from one of my kids’ schools. Temperature check station, check in station, then materials pick up window. All outside, distanced, with masks. Very safe imo. Given the setup and the unreliability of checking for symptoms, the temperature check station is pretty useless imo. WITH THAT SAID, there were two women sitting on a curb about a foot from the line for the temperature check station. Someone asked what they were doing, and they said the temperature check showed them as having fevers, which they didn’t believe, so they were going to wait a few minutes and try again. When I got to the station itself there was another woman who apparently came up as having a fever who was arguing passionately that it was a mistake and she should be allowed to proceed.
