COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

I had a really bad sore throat back in April. No cough, fever, or shortness of breath, but my voice was pretty hoarse for a while.

As a health care worker with direct exposure to confirmed positive patients, it was easy to get a test.

Took 6 days to get my results, negative. I started feeling better about 5 days after I got swabbed.

Hoping for the best for you too!

So what are everyone’s thoughts on antigen tests? I can pay $140 to get an antigen test today, and will have the results in <2 hours. Or I can get a pcr test today, it will go through my insurance, and I will probably wait 5-6 days for results. I don’t think it’s very likely I have covid, but I have had a sore throat for 2 days.

Realistically, how will getting tested change your situation? What would you do differently?

Mainly, I would isolate from my pregnant wife if positive.

Probably get a PCR test in that case.

Heard news on the radio about a Chinese Study that found lung damage in 70% of former CoViD patients. 50% had reduced lung muscle power 30 days after being delared healed.

Antibody=had it in the past
Pcr= have it now

If you have antibodies follow up with a regular test. If that’s negative you are likely fine.

I’m not talking about an antibody test. I’m talking antigen vs PCR. They are two different diagnostic tests. Antigen is faster but more false negatives. I’m getting the pcr and seeing what they say about turnaround before I decide if I will also get antigen.

FL with 6,218 new cases and 228 deaths today. 7DMA of deaths is 175.

Did they define the exact mechanism that got people into the pool? Because that sure would be nice to know on one of these studies.

Kansas City extends state of emergency to Jan 16

“It is now obvious to everyone that COVID-19 is not going away over the next five months,” said Dr. Archer. “As we move out of summer and into fall and winter, we will still be confronting this health emergency. Our cases continue to rise, with a 115 percent increase in the 20-29 age group between June and July. We need every person, every business, every organization to commit to stopping transmission so our kids can get back to school and our businesses can thrive.”

USA #1 for testing.
