COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

It’s almost as if it’s someone intentionally trying to make mask advocates look bad, but apparently it’s just an idiot.

We’re long overdue for another caning on the Senate floor.

AOC for prez and whatnot, but that’s a bad argument. Schools are essential; indoor dining is not. The risk/reward is not the same.

True, but indoor dining is also not compulsory.

Maricopa County has had a county-wide mask mandate for nearly 2 months. I assume enforcement is basically zero but the grocery store I go to has large signs at all entrances and compliance is 100%. I did my weekly shopping trip today and I don’t even think I saw any noses.

The case numbers, especially over the past week, are starting too look almost too good to be true.

But hospitalizations, deaths, positivity (now under 10%) are also down so seems legit. :man_shrugging:

We’ve joked about it but I guess it’s possible the extreme heat is a factor. Phoenix has already broken it’s yearly record for 110 degree days, and July was the hottest month on record.

I am curious about this too. My anecdotal experience is that you’re required to provide data when you fly to be used for contract tracing, and I know someone who flew back into New York who was required to quarantine for 14 days, and received daily calls from the Department of Health to “enforce” the quarantine.

I’d assume that with this, there should be some data as to the prevalence of infection among the flying public. Obviously I can’t say that because I haven’t heard anything, there hasn’t been hundreds of flights that led to explosive epidemics, but it would be nice to get some better information, especially for those that are required to travel extensively for work.

True, but she’s asking why are schools safe if indoor dining isn’t, not arguing that they are of equal importance.

And cassette is arguing that schools are important enough that they should be open even if they’re not safe. Which is pretty lol unless he’s talking about a hypothetical different situation.

Mask compliance in my area of NH seems to be getting really good again after falling off for a while. I had some errands to do this weekend and compliance was basically 100% everywhere I went.

I think her point is the reasons some people want schools to open is less about children learning and more about having day cares so people can be cogs in the machine easier.

What makes you think I’m arguing that?

Yeah she probably does think that.

The conditional, “If if isn’t safe for indoor dining, it isn’t safe for indoor schooling” is false. That’s all I’m saying. My kid is staying home indefinitely. That has nothing to do with the tweet.

So my grandsons’ daycare in rural Wisconsin just had a teacher test positive. looks like they are closing for two weeks. Individual was not in the room with either of our boys but its going to be a sweat.

The older boy (almost 5) had reconstructive heart surgery as an infant. He came through that with flying colors and is forecast to have a normal life and life span. No clue if the idea that he has some scar tissue on his heart is a risk factor. Their other grandfather that lives next door is a type 1 diabetic.

That looks like a standard decay curve.

The fuck? How is RCL pulling in nearly 60 a share? CCL is hovering around 15
