COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

It was awesome the first few years, before it turned awful and evil.

Ok can you give me 2 weeks please. Posting here so people will know where I went. Not that I think anyone will cry. I quit old 2p2 politics for like 3 months and was sad that no one even seem to notice I was gone :frowning:

But anyway I love you all I just need to work on my book and stop spinning my wheels on the internet. I’ll see you in 2 weeks.

I got it when it was only for college students. Things began to get bad once old people found it.

Yup, exactly.

Done, but I would prefer these requests be made through the moderators. Not my jerb.

I love that the most active thread, by a number of factors, is the political meme thread.

Im sure 95% of them are despicable and horribly racist.

Well. My coworker / friend got a call that someone at work he interacted with tested positive and he has to quarantine for 14 days. We sit 4 feet from each other and played bocce ball for his birthday last night. No one from work has called me to let me know yet.

Be well and productive suzzer, I’m considering a mental health break myself. I’m losing my shit lately.

“The death numbers are a lie because hospitals get paid more if they classify a death as COVID” is accepted as a basic fact in these circles.

I’ve heard that so many times

Likewise, my friend’s father keeps saying it. I’m getting to an exceptionally dark place at this point. Combination of our politics, our pandemic response, society trending towards qAnon and my ongoing issues with my landlord. I don’t even want to type out what I’m thinking at this point.

Huh. Who would of thunk this.

Cuse I left a great, isolated setup at the beach to watch this Pelicans game and they’re down by 32 at halftime. Dark times indeed.

Take a break. If not from the forum, then from the political threads. I never see you in the off topic threads. Maybe come chat about Metallica for a while instead? We (the forum) tend to shine a light on all the darkness in the world, so it can be tough if this place is your main outlet. But the world isn’t all bad, or even as bad as reading the forum would make you think. Hot take: humans are actually pretty great.

My town this morning. During an argument about wearing masks a woman throws coffee on a man and the man then punches her boyfriend/husband.

New York County’s SDI is still super high (10+ over target SDI guess at 66) while the state during the last same measurement had 41 overall (below target). As you can see by the graph below, cases have risen at a clip of ~150 per week since the 7/10-6/16 period, with no real change in SDI.

Based on the partial for the next measurement period, it looks like New York County will lower in cases over that time with a drop of 2 points in SDI. If that SDI holds, it will be the first time New York County has been less than 10 points above its target SDI guess, since 6/5-6/11. The rises in cases over the last few weeks might be related to that one other measurement period 10 below target SDI guess. Any effects from the 7/24-7/30 measurement period will probably be felt either 3rd or 4th week of August. The key thing to stay on the right path for New York County is probably staying above 60 SDI. That seems increasingly unlikely as time moves forward.

I ended up having to spend about 4-1/2 minutes in a mall today. If anybody is relying on a significant percentage of people voluntarily doing the right thing, I have some very bad news. I’d have felt safer in the mall from Dawn of the Dead.

Coffee that is hot enough has the ability to cause third-degree burns. Assuming that the coffee hit his face, it could have done serious damage. I mean it obviously didn’t since he had the ability to strike the woman but throwing coffee isn’t an innocent act.

Covid is making people nuts
