Same here. For me the groups are just too vital. And I like still being connected with people.
Even if everyone deleted FB tomorrow, something else very similar would probably spring up in its place. I get why others can delete it and it’s a good thing to send them a message in that way. But for me I’ll just have to settle for pressuring them to do better.
They had to put a kudu down on one of the zoo shows I watch. They should just let the guy come and shoot the animal at the zoo. It’s about as sporting as the guided canned hunt he went on - with animals who are used to seeing humans and cars all the time.
I have my kids and a nephew that lives in their area all on a group text we use for updates and Lols. Otherwise it’s phone calls.
We use my SIL Facebook account occasionally to look at pictures that are posted. We don’t have our own accountS due to having asshole exes in the past.
Baseball looks like it’s at least going to pause this week coming up.
Basketball V hockey will be interesting with a high case density right outside the Orlando bubble vs the Canadian bubbles with low cases.
Basketball player goes out side the bubble or a hotel worker from home has a pretty high likelihood of transmission. Should be between .1 and .01 chance for hockey.
NFL needs to rethink and quickly. I heard a suggestIon for 4 bubbles with a new alignment by geography. AFC east and nfc East. 12 game season you play everyone twice. 4 games a week. Need areas with two stadiums or space the games on different days or 1pm/8pm in same field with good cleaning protocol.
I text a few cousins/aunts/uncles, but the amount we keep in touch would go down a ton without Facebook. And ultimately it’s not going anywhere, so if I quit all I’m doing is depriving myself of a way to keep in touch with family and friends.
„Day of Freedom“ happens to be the title of a Leni Riefenstahl propaganda piece.
While this protest attracted idiots from all across the political spectrum it‘s mainly the far right that is instrumentalizing the anti-mask sentiments for their political gain. Anything that gets people riled up is fair game, pure distilled populism.
Co signed for friends too. I felt a huge shift in the quality of my relationships once I quit primarily talking through social media and moved to email and phone calls. If I’m in touch with a person, let’s give it some substance. Whatever that means for each of us with different kinds of compatibilities. It takes more effort and time, but does it really? How much time does a person spend reviewing shallow stuff on FB (or Unstuck Politics) that they’d feel far more fulfilled exploring with one or two of those people in depth?
Obv that is just what works for me, and I’m on board with casual social media acquaintances in general or I wouldn’t be posting here ffs
I think the people meeting in echo chambers and reinforcing their beliefs has happened since the earliest days of the web. However, what makes facebook especially evil is it is designed to steer you towards these niche communities if you are prone to certain biases.
I agree that Face Book is a good way to keep in contact with certain types of relatives and hiking groups and whatnot. Just keep in mind that that takes maybe 30 minutes per week, so if you’re on more than that, you need a new reason.
