COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

To be fair, wandering around Broadway in Nashville puts you at a high risk of infection at the best of times.

SC info is in.
1543 cases
49 deaths
20.9% positive
1723 hospitalized
241 on ventilators

Fewer cases but fewer tests and a flat positive %. Feels like a high plateau for several weeks. Hospitalization numbers are back after missing for a week and it feels good faith because they seem to have increased at a steady rate while they were not reported; same with ventilator use (up about 30% in the past week and a half).

Stunning statistic is the drop in bed use. Looks like hospitals everywhere have canceled optional treatments, as hospital utilization has dropped by 25% statewide while Covid patients have continued to increase. Looks like they’re getting ready for worse.

Got some awesome news on a personal front. My wife’s principal offered her a job as a remote learning teacher this year. She obviously snap called and doesn’t have to worry about 30 children in a 400 square foot room.

Are you trying to do it through your phone or the watch? It only works through the phone. I have 2 samsung smart watches and they don’t interfere with it.

You’ve probably tried this, but click the three vertical dots on the upper right of the samsung stress test. That’s where the measure multiple switch is.

Good eye.

And what is this person pulling down? Could be shades, but no one would be stupid enough to wear shades when it’s so dark. Must be pulling down a mask, which means they are even dumber than people who wear shades in the dark.

Texas deaths are going to be rough again, likely 200+. Lots of deaths already and only rural counties reporting so far

Lucky for me I’m in Pennsylvania.

Where is Canadian glory hole activity?

Yes. But that wasn’t what he said. He specifically listed “bathrooms and pronouns”. If that isn’t intended to play down or trivialize those issues then it was poorly written.

Likewise. Picking JK Rowling as your example of trans issues does a similarly poor job of expressing how much you actually care about trans people.

Edit.

To expand. This is similar if someone said of the civil rights movement that they were focused on “bus seats and lunch counters” instead of focusing on stopping overseas wars.

Now imagine instead of having to sit at the back of the bus, you have to choose between being sexually assaulted at the front of the bus, or being beaten up at the back of the bus.

Less risky than a Floridian glory hole but more risky than bowling.

I don’t know how it works with other teams, but the Brewers charged $50. Half of it went to charity. I would guess that cardboard cutouts that aren’t dirt cheap, so I assume the team isn’t making much profit off of it.

Does your phone have that little panel to put your finger on?

Yeah. They just use the camera LEDs.

Today in WAAF / NotAllDoctors news…

Turns out, the doctor is the dad of one of my partner’s friends from HS. We even went to the doc’s house for her wedding a few years ago. So last night, my gf texts her friend to tell her we saw the clinic on the news.

Cue full MAGAt meltdown.
“Yea, the coronavirus is a hoax. It’s all political bullshit. The media is out to get Trump.” Etc.

My partner, who is a funeral director that has has many COVID deaths come through her doors replied simply… “wow”.

MAGAt goes full dipshit and tells her “we don’t see eye to eye on anything politically, so I’d appreciate it if you didn’t discuss this stuff with me”. LOL. The only two things she had said were “I saw your dad’s clinic on the news” and “wow”.

Just proves how expert “wow” is as a response. It does a lot of work.

Through the phone. No dots. Good news is it doesn’t seem to stress me out.

I bet there’s an update or something. Jump into the galaxy store and see if there’s an update. My version is 6.10.5.031.

Need a sanity check here:

Suppose your high school football team was conducting practice. You find out that one or more players on the team have older siblings that are confirmed positive COVID. The confirmed positive siblings are currently living with the players. Players are still practicing with the team.

This is bonkers, right? Anyone living with a confirmed positive COVID individual should be quarantining themselves, right?

This is fairly irrelevant for me, since I don’t have a child on the football team. But it does influence my thoughts about school. I assumed that it would be obvious that a student would self-quarantine if they were living with anyone that tested positive, but now I’m wondering if it’s as obvious as I think it is.
