COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

Voted No. But much like CA right now, a bunch of the most populous counties may have something that is like 95% of a shutdown, but not called a shutdown.

Definitely plausible Florida does what California is doing as well. I think California will not get where they need to get with current restrictions frankly and have to go more severe but it is anyone’s guess what happens from here.

I’m surprised to see you going hybrid, @anon10387340. Or is that more out of necessity than choice?

Voted yes because as much as they will try to avoid this, I don’t think they will have a choice with the way the numbers are going.

Then there are also outs for a November shutdown after the election. Won’t be as much need to pretend it’s not happening after then. Right now it’s just about marketing and spin to help dear leader get re-elected.

Also, they want to be open for summer $$$ but November $ not as great I assume.

That’s great.

Hopefully the rest of the metro counties follow.

My kids are going virtual regardless, but I’d prefer all the kids do that to limit deaths and spread.

Florida no. State depends on tourist dollars. Without that, it’s Alabama.

In LA County - we’re basically where we were in the shutdown, and that seemed to work. The only two things I can think of still open that weren’t back then are retail stores with masks, and outdoor dining. Gyms, salons, bars, indoor restaurants are all closed.

Choice. It looks like in our school district each family will be allowed to choose 100% in class, 100% remote, or hybrid. My daughter is struggling and needs social interaction. Right now daily new cases in my area are very low and we also have very few active cases. I think the risk is ok. If these things changes and the risk increases we may switch to 100% remote.

Is there a clear definition of shutdown? Like I think there may be some stuff like temp school closures, etc. But I am not seeing how they are going to go from the attitude they have today to anything other than just letting it burn through the population.

I mean they will absolutely say that but also support banning Muslim countries because scary terrorism. Or putting them in camps etc.

You know the drill

This combination of Kemp banning mask ordinances, and Trump yanking hospital data from the CDC has me a little more freaked out than usual.

Honestly didn’t realize it was that strict. That has a chance to work.

I suppose I meant March 15-April 15 restrictions and maybe should have made that a bit more clear.

Again I think the 60%+ that aren’t buying Trump on Covid will harden with Kemp and CDC fiascos. Fully onboard with team Trump making every wrong move this time. Pure variance in 2016. Regression this time.

It took a fucking pandemic and approx 200,000 dead Americans to wake people the fuck up, but now they are awake.

I will continue to wary and paranoid emotionally, but the logic side says 2020 is about the Senate now. Time is now to lock vulnerable R Senators. Hopefully this seals Loefflers fate.

Season in Florida is not during the summer months, it’s too damn hot.

Snowbirds return and tourism tends to pick up after Thanksgiving and runs until the end of March, typically.

More about this guy - his theory is he tested positive because he had a small viral load in him from working around it so much - but never got sick.

The $million question is was he shedding and could he give it to other people during this time.

He’s tested negative in-between the two positives. A lol antibody test was inconclusive.

One thing that has helped Vermont, as strange as this may sound, is being a blue state with a popular Republican governor. All of the left of center people are going to comply because that’s what science says to do, and the governor getting out of the way and saying listen to the health officials keeps many of the Republicans here compliant.

Blue state ok with red or blue governor. Red state with blue governor ok. Red state with red governor - not ok.

It’s like a recessive gene.
