The mayor of Charlottesville is piiiiissed that the University of Virginia (relevant to me as my alma mater) is letting students come back for the fall semester.
From a local newspaper article about it: “First-year students and others living in university housing still would be allowed to live in dorms with social distancing and mask requirements.”
Yes, I remember living in the dorms and how EASY it was to social distance. Sharing a tiny room with another person and sharing a bathroom with like 40 dudes or so…no problem.
I haven’t been tested. I guess it’s free here, but not convenient. I’m giving blood today and will get an antibody test. It takes a while to get the results though.
I’m getting it from the Red Cross. It’s not very accurate. I guess something like a 20% chance it’s wrong. Also, people may be afraid that people will get a result that they had it and then stop wearing masks/socially distancing.
A few weeks back my sister said it won’t grow in a lab after 9 days, and Andy Slavitt implied something similar at the 7 day mark but didn’t elaborate.
