COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

I’m a little confused by the story. If it’s a legit plate can’t they just run it through the system to find the owner? Or is the story that the plate is not legit? (I’m confused by the registration being separate from the plates. They still have to be able to trace a plate to the registration/owner, no?)

The police or Transport Department could look if they wanted to, the public/airport staff can’t. Likely the police have already been in contact with the owner. It’s not really some great mystery, I just thought it was kind of amusing, especially if the answer is that this COVID19 plate guy ended up getting himself trapped overseas by COVID-19.

Apparently we’re all going to be killed by the virus eventually anyway so I guess this doesn’t matter so much.

If the corona don’t get ya the coronary will.

Getting there slooooowly…

“should” will eventually become “must” but Boris doesn’t want to be seen to be following Nicola too closely.

I do this at least 20 times a day in Facebook. It’s helps me a lot

“Well Whitmer shut us down because (insert incomprehensible sentence)”

Just reply with shut the fuck up

Don’t even engage with it anymore on a conversation level. What’s the point.

They just shift from

Cases are down

To

Deaths are down

That’s a bit misleading:

Doctors give patients echocardiograms only when they suspect there is a problem with the heart, so the high number of abnormalities is not unexpected. How common heart damage is in Covid-19 patients more generally is unclear.

We get ours from a local specialty place that actually has the real thing + EVOO, but the majority is apparently chemical trash. Good clarification.

Anyway I don’t mean to recommend specific ingredients, rather just the importance of doing things that provide new and/or atypical positive experiences for families.

The problem is there are a lot of people who only look at the deaths. If the number of deaths is not significant they think wearing a mask is a burden. People need to educated that dying is not the only outcome. Living the rest of your live with a bad heart, with a decreased lung capacity or a damaged brain is not that much better. People dont understand that this illness is still pretty new territory and nobody knows what the outcomes are. Especially if people dont get checked if they have no symptoms. I assume we will get a better understanding once people went to their regular medical checkups.

We’re like 280,000 so this is pretty worrying.

Last week I incorrectly predicted we wouldn’t hit 70k. This week we are a lock for 75k and likely to hit 80k IMO. Testing has started increasing again and I think 10% and 800k tests nationwide is within the scope of what we could see

Oh I think winter will be much worse. Maybe a little break in early fall.

I think the seasonality is notable however. In the northern half of the country where the summer weather is much nicer the virus is not spreading much a t all. Other factors are at play as well of course, less deplorables, and overall better management but none the less climate is helping.

I have always wondered why successful socialist societies are almost exclusively in colder weather climates. Socialism just tends north for whatever reason. Even in the US the more liberal states correlate with colder weather. At the least the ones the matter.

342 cumulative on 280k isn’t much but 80 is worse. But again in Greenville county we are seeing 200 a day, even adjusted for population we are 10x worse than where y’all are. 80 a week is concerning with a high Rt, less so if it’s like 1.05. Our Rt is like 1.15 and I’m still scared out of my mind— my boss won’t make my coworkers wear masks and is making us come in for in person meetings

12,624 in Florida today. The anxiety this is bringing me is hard to really put into words. The suffering in the state and them trying to reopen schools in weeks without a plan just baffles me. This is like watching 1000 car wrecks in slow motion.

My GF’s sister and a few couples just got on a plane last night to go to Florida. Insanity.

They are bringing their kids too.

Anecdotal report from NM where we’re at about ~250 cases/day but increasing. On Thursday the Governor updated the mask requirement to say masks are mandatory anytime you leave your house, no exceptions. It used to be that if you were exercising (which included walking), you didn’t have to wear a mask.

Happy to see that this morning while walking the dog, all of the ~15 people I saw walking were wearing a mask/face cover. This included 4 ladies in their 60s doing aerobics 6ft apart in my neighbor’s garage.

Amazing what good leadership can do in a time of crisis.

I’d take one that replies with this clip:

Two comments:

Perhaps socialist societies thrive where cold weather forces people to work together more to accomplish outcomes like buildings etc.

I wonder if the North and South are going to “ping pong” the virus back and forth based on season. Summer = South gets more cases due to staying inside with AC. Winter = North gets more cases due to staying inside with heat.
