Indy’s Mayor continues to kill it. Can’t wait to see everyone that wasn’t wearing a mask in my office have to!
Does a specific counties laws override a states law?
I agree with you, but I bet if “science” was “changing its mind” in the other direction (i.e., from something they don’t like toward something they do like), they’d be more than happy to take the new guidance onboard.
Through last night.
My guess is that it’s worse than it appears in the hardest-hit states due to a combination of bad data and/or lack of testing. We’re also down to 14 states with Rt < 1, and 6 of them are >= 0.94.
Lockdown Tardis discovered by UK police:

(ends just after 1.20, to save a minute of nothing)
AZ with another new high in deaths yesterday.
We’ve been locked on to cases as a leading indicator, but is it time to start tracking deaths in the hotspot states now?
Florida looks to be moving up on a 7DMA basis as well, with the most deaths in the last month reported today.
This is my county here in SW Missouri. Can someone break this down for a dummy like me? Because, of course, the mouth breathers are screaming “derp, only 2 hospitalizations, flu is worse!” Sigh.
No real idea what a technocrat is. Only know they use it as an identifier for their higher tier donaters on Knowledge Fight
“Only 15 cases, it will be zero soon”
2.5 million cases later, USA#1 still adding 50k cases daily and they’re the ones they can count / can’t seem to find the test kits (where’d I put them?)
Tell 'em to check back in 3 weeks time
Oh for sure. It’s really just another version of cherry picking for the truth you want.
Just got this update from the NBA on my phone:
25 of 351 NBA players have tested positive since testing began last week.
Newsmax TV contributor Herman Cain was admitted to a hospital Wednesday and is being treated for COVID-19.
The former Republican presidential candidate is doing well and is not on a ventilator, his staff tells Newsmax.

Have ever considered they are brainwashed?
wtf lol
“Well, presumably hospitalizations are down 50%, since 2 people have died from COVID-19 in the last 2 days in this county–five in the last week.”
Anyways the hospitalized number sounds fishy/wrong. You wouldn’t have 5 deaths in a week and only 2 hospitalized after 600 cases confirmed in 2 weeks.
Yeah, it would take a long post to flesh out but generally speaking a technocrat believes in the value of technical expertise. This is clearly not a completely bad thing, and is often a very good thing. Societies tend to run into problems though when you get what are essentially dogmatic technocrats that not only believe in technical expertise, but also believe deeply in the supremacy of technical expertise and, in the worst cases, you can have professional classes that further believe in the supremacy of the people with technical expertise and do not believe that technocratic solutions can fail except for when stupid non technical people fuck them up.
One thing that’s getting to me is the sheer and growing magnitude of death and suffering that’s being minimized and dismissed by so many people.
Think back to other mass casualty events from our lifetimes. Even apart from the obvious example of 9/11, we still talk about the Oklahoma City bombing with awe and reverence (168 dead). Think of the energy and news cycles expended on the Boston marathon bombing (3 dead). We talked about bumpstocks for weeks after Las Vegas (58 killed). More recently the two catastrophic 737 max crashes resulted in “only” 346 casualties. It’s just mind-boggling.
BENGHAZI!
We have let even ourselves get drawn into the framing that 500 deaths per day for the entire summer–minimum–is a victory. It’s sickening.
